Re: Raspberry Pi model B stock shortage

Hi,

I just wanted to share enikpl's interrogations.
It's impossible to order a model B here in France. Element14 projects they'll be back in 2 month, RS in December (!!).

It would be reassuring to know what's really happening here.

Cheers,

Re: Read-only FS corruption: how can it be?

My ultimate goal, however, is to add another RW partition to the SD card to have an available (yet non-critical) write area, Or you could have the RW area on a separate USB stick ;) so I'll eventually have to find a softer way to protect the rootfs. If your rootfs is small enough, you could convert...

Re: Read-only FS corruption: how can it be?

If you can rebuild the kernel, then changing: https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/blob/rpi-3.6.y/drivers/mmc/host/sdhci.c#L1614 to always return true should make writes to sdcard impossible (looks like it is write protected). I'd be interested if that avoids the corruption. You could also add prin...

Read-only FS corruption: how can it be?

Hi folks, After struggling for month with random SD card corruption issues, I finally bit the bullet and created a fully working read-only filesystem based on Raspbian. I decided to stress-test it with the following script: After 5 minutes, run "fsck -y /" After 10 minutes, force a hard reboot. Also...

Can only mount rootfs in emergency kernel?

Hi Folks, I have 2 Pis, one of them has been working 24/7 for the past few months flawlessly. Its SD card content has been backed up and dd'd into 3 different SD cards to run on the second Pi. Thing is, after rebooting (properly of course) the second Pi a few times, the rootfs becomes corrupted (whi...

Qt 5 support on Rasp Pi ?

Hi folks, I've been using the old Debian Wheezy image for a few weeks now, but it seems that the Raspberry Pi world is moving to Raspbian. Interestingly enough, the Qt team now seems to consider Rasbpian as the first-class citizen, and even seemed to (silently) drop the Qt-on-Pi distribution. Gettin...

Re: Updating modules after /boot update ?

I thought rpi-update was going to update the modules for me... I had given up updating them manually because it seemed not possible to download a whole git directory. As it turns out there is a "zip download" button in github so getting the modules directory as a zip archive and installing it manual...

Updating modules after /boot update ?

Hi folks, Now that I'm using the latest and greatest boot files (manually downloaded from github) , I have modules symbol issues when trying to use a WiFi dongle (for instance: ipv6: disagrees about version of symbol tcp_syn_ack_timeout) rpi-update fails to overwrite my modules directory: cp: cannot...

Re: PANIC: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(179

Hi Stankyz, Just to let you know, I found out your post because I see the exact same problem on my Pi. I'm using the Wheezy Debian on a Sony SD card and if I electrically reboot the Pi (not with a clean shutdown -r), I'm sure to get a SD card corruption with the same message! My solution so far: cre...

Qt on Debian ?

Hi Folks, I wanted to use the Core features of Qt in a test app so after much hesitation, I got the latest Debian RaspPi boot image. This is nice because it already contains Qt 5 snapshot libs. On the host side, I built a test hello world app with the QtOnPi 0.2 toolchain. Cross Compilation and remo...

Re: Any Farnell shippings to France ?

A quick update in case anyone is in the same situation: I gave Farnell a phone call last thursday and it appears my order was "on hold" :? . They promised the RPi would arrive any day now. Another co-worker of mine, having also ordered its RPi there give them a call the same day. They told him its o...

Any Farnell shippings to France ?

Hi folks, Being very enthousiastic about the RPi, I ordered mine on the release day - about one hour after the starting gun fired... We are in June now, and no news from Farnell except these automatic emails where they say that early customers should have their RPi before the end of June... and cust...
