Re: Raspberry Pi 4 Heatsink vs Fan vs Flirc Case

A most useful thread, thank you all, along with the mass of information at https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=243500 . I'm most impressed with the Pi4, as a desktop replacement but am concerned over the heat issue. I know that the 'experts' say don't worry, but as an Electronic ...

Re: Raspberry Pi 2 and HTML5

Guenter, That's brilliant, thank you. MPG Video, plays happily now for over 10 minutes on my Pi2 before crashing, but looks fairly stable in that time, as long as you don't mess with the settings, then things do go wrong. I'll explore further. As you said, the install did warn of a couple of things ...

Re: Raspberry Pi 2 and HTML5

Minitube seems to work well for Youtube using a Pi2. I'm playing with omxplayer at the moment, and have had brief 15 second moments of it playing videos well, where VLC would not, but because I don't quite understand what I'm doing in the command line, it seems v. unstable. Is anyone working on a GU...

Re: Pi 2 DoA?

I also thought that mine was DOA, but the problem was with the SD card. It seems that the Pi2 is particularly picky. I tried all sorts of methods to format the card but only clearing the partitions, switching to windows, using the recommended windows format tool, using NOOBS and giving the SD card a...

Re: usb & hub

Having had some problems with power supplies, I would also suggest that you try another power supply. They are quite inexpensive. I have one 1amp power supply that is fine, most of the time, but when pushed, does not quite supply enough oomph. I don't want to bare the wires to check the voltages but...

Re: Complete New User Getting Stated Guide

Thanks - I've managed to get most of the way but after Step 33, I find I can no longer log in as root or as my new user. Is there a file I can edit to get going again? I don't want to go back to Step 7 if I can possibly help it. The first line in my etc/passwd file is (if that is at all relevant roo...

Re: Invitation to order from RS

Just got my ParcelForce email last night saying my Pi is on its way. My order was placed on 18th May. Hopefully be here today or probably tomorrow (as I'm north scotland!) Fingers crossed its not an empty box & at least I already have my Pi from Farnell for a few weeks now. :) Mine arrived today; o...
