Re: The projects list. Look here for some ideas.

<t>I was actually considering doing a CNC control system with an RPi.  If nobody else is interested (or if someone wants a partner) I can probably work on some software.<br/> <br/> If I get some feedback showing interest in this, I can see what I can do (as time permits, I'm a full time student, but...

That's true. Plus aren't R-Pi getting an extra discount on the broadcom chips?

Eben works for Broadcom, so I'd assume they're getting quite a deal between that and being a charitable foundation.

How did you end up getting it to work?<br/> <br/> I just followed the instructions that you recently posted in this thread, and everything worked as expected. Re: Simulator/Emulator for Raspberry Pi?

<t>I'm not sure why I'm having issues at all to be honest. I understood what was going on the entire duration of the tutorials. However, whenever I got to the final step of running the VM, it never seemed to work as expected.<br/> <br/> I did get Debian running. From there, I didn't try too much els...

Re: Simulator/Emulator for Raspberry Pi?

<r>I've gotten Debian for arm installed, and it's booting just fine. Woo! This brings up a few more things however:<br/> <br/> 1.) I still can't boot with the "-cpu arm1176" option. Leaving it out works. Does this just mean that the Armel Debian isn't compatible with the arm1176, or what?<br/> 2.) I...

Re: Simulator/Emulator for Raspberry Pi?

<t>I actually followed the guides in your signature to get to that point. I'm not sure if the issue stemmed from using the 3.0 kernel on github (which I didn't have much choice, kernel.org still isn't working) or what.<br/> <br/> I didn't see any initrd file included on that guide, so I'm a tad conf...

Re: Simulator/Emulator for Raspberry Pi?

<t>Alright, well I've gone through the guides that you linked to. I followed everything to the t, with the exception of the kernel downloaded (I got the latest stable release from github, due to the fact that kernel.org is down. Still version 3.0.x though). Everything went fine until trying to run t...

Re: Simulator/Emulator for Raspberry Pi?

Alright, thank you very much! I've read through the raspi tutorials you linked me to, but haven't tried it yet. I guess I'll be compiling my own kernel :D

Thanks again,

- Jesse

Re: Simulator/Emulator for Raspberry Pi?

<t>I've boon fooling around using QEMU. I installed the armel version of Debian, just to make sure it all worked. Followed this guide:<br/> Installing Debian Lenny on virtualized ARM arch (with QEMU) on Ubuntu Karmic Koala<br/> <br/> It all works just fine. One thing I tried to do was add "-cpu arm1...

Re: A Few Questions

<t>Alright, well in the small amount of free time I've had, I've done a bit of reading and whatnot.<br/> <br/> Basically I've got a simple model of how things work in my head, and I'm just looking for confirmation at this point so that I can start working on some miscellaneous projects.<br/> <br/> T...

Understandable. In the mean time I can work on planning things out, and just compiling some stuff for x86, learning the basics. Same ideas, different arch :D

Re: A Few Questions

<r>Hey everyone. First things first, I absolutely love this project. I've been looking like something similar to this for quite a long time, but ARM-based single-board computers tend to run at well over $100, not a student friendly budget!<br/> <br/> A little bit about myself briefly. I'm a Computer...
