Re: Raspberry Pi car stereo

@fruitoftheloom

Thanks for stating the obvious. I don't know why people just can't answer the question or not answer at all. We are builders, project makers and tinkerers. I know I can purchase something cheaper. But I want to build it myself!!!!!!!

Anyone else with any real ideas?

Please !

Raspberry Pi car stereo

I'm looking for software that runs on a Raspberry Pi that completely replaces my car stereo. In other words unlike android auto I don't want something to hookup to my phone or current car stereo. I'd like FM radio (AM radio is optional), a GPS system. Of course playback my downloaded music or off a ...

picamera vs rpiwebcam vs motioneyes

I setup a few Pi zero w with RpiWebcam package. It works fine. I can access the zero's from my browser. I've seen motioneyeos. Looks like it has a lot of features. Is it true it's a real dog (cpu wise) on the zero w? compared to RpiWebcam? I've also seen the picamera distro for the Pi. Looks like a ...

Re: Auto rotate like a tablet

Thanks. I know about the lcd_rotate. I'd just like to do it like a smart phone or tablet. I assume they use some type of motion sensor. I'd like to try and code that if I could find out what type of sensor (hardware) I'd need to buy.

Auto rotate like a tablet

I have the official pi 7in lcd touch screen. I know how to rotate the display in the config.txt.

Has anyone come up with a way to make it rotate automatically like a smart phone or tablet?

I assume you would need some kind of sensor and programming.

Raspberry PI Phone

Has anyone use PiTalk to make a Pi smart phone? How did it work out? What model Pi did you use?

Thanks

Re: Raspberry Pi phone

I just read that SIM800 and SIM900 are @G and 2G is being phased out in the USA.
The author recommends SIM7100E which supports up to LTE. Expensive but it is the considered replacement.

Any comments?

I don't want the one with the board with the buttons on it. I want to use a touch screen and write my own apps in Python. Re: Raspberry Pi phone

Everybody thanks for the responses. I'm aware of all (or most) of the projects and boards. What I was looking for is side by side reviews of the products so I don't have to read a ton of material and purchase the best board(s)/solutions for my use. I was really wondering if anyone would answer who h...

Raspberry Pi phone

Are there any reviews/comparisions on Phone (GSM, 4G,LTE)boards/Hats for the Raspberry Pi? I see a lot now advertised but no real reviews or comparisions. I'm looking to do 2 things. Make my Pi3B+ mobile. And make a Phone, hopefully with the PiZero W. Has anyone done any projects? I'm looking for in...

Re: PI Zero W and SSID changing

I'm trying to get to the Pi Zero W so I can access it headless. But you effectively told me the answer. I know I can and have setup (manually) the Pi3b+ to be on the 192.168.1.1 network. I've done that before when I manually set it up as a router (with Raspian) and gave it a static IP address of 192...

PI Zero W and SSID changing

I have a Pi3B+ setup as a router. My PiZero W(using the Pi light version) was setup in Raspi-Config to access it. It gave out an IP address 192.168.42.14. My Cable router is 192.168.1.1. (I know the Pi3B+ has an IP address of 192.168.42.1.) I could not get to the Pi Zero W through SSH on my windows ...

I'm in the US. Customers are usually always right. Luckily MicroCenter has a great return policy.
Told them what happened and they gave me a new board.

Issue happens with a fresh image and REALVNC install.

Going back to Raspian lite and manual package install.

Re: First working, then Dead 3B+

I had a Pi3B+ die on me also. It was running fine as a Hotspot for 2 months. Then I attached a Iuniker Dual fan and heat sinks to it. Made sure no metal was touching. I was working for 2 weeks and then just died. Same as you, just the red led power light was on. Tried everything. Powers supply, new ...

Re: DietPi Zero w keeps rebooting

So, after a new flashed image on a new card I had no issues when doing the software and firmware updates. I set my Locals info (US, English, keyboard) Which did not get save on the first boot. Went back to UK defaults. I had to set them again. I did not enable serial console. I just replaced Dropbea...

Re: DietPi Zero w keeps rebooting

FYI. I wasn't refering to the size of the card for DietPi. In fact for the Zero W's as webcam's I use a 64GB card for storage.
They work great. I was referring to the smaller foot print of the OS.

Re: DietPi Zero w keeps rebooting

I just like that DietPi was so easy to install packages and small footprint. I used it to setup a PI3B+ Hotspot that took me a while before on Raspian. Although DietPi is limited in changing some configurations for it. I have the same setup you have (on 3 other Pi Zero W) I just wanted to experiment...

Re: DietPi Zero w keeps rebooting

It wasn't Apache 2. It looks like the errors are related to the keyboard (which I did not have issues with under the initial setup with full Raspian). I use a wireless keyboard. I switched it to a wired usb keyboard and still have the same issue. The one thing I did do is enable serial console (whic...

Re: DietPi Zero w keeps rebooting

The only issue I can think of is RPI Web Cam likes to use Apache 2 (At least when I installed it with a full version of Raspian on the Zero W that worked). DietPi installs Lighttpd by default. I'll install Apache 2 and remove Lighttpd and reboot 2 times. If I'm not in a reboot loop I'll try installi...

Re: DietPi Zero w keeps rebooting

Not sure what you mean by TL;DR (too long and don't like high density text).

I did post this on DietPi first. Of course they came back with the power supply issue. It's definitely not that.

DietPi Zero w keeps rebooting

I installed dietpi today on a Zero w. (did it on a 3B+ and setup as Hotspot no problem). I wanted to setup the zero as a webcam. I did this 4 times before I started to install or change the configuration and reboot at least 2 times to make sure all was good. I changed the setup to US. connected to t...

Re: Pi 3b+ not working a week after I added the iuniker dual fan

Just for kicks, I used alcohol and a exacto (razor) to remove the fan and the other heat-sinks. Yes I let it dry for 24 hours before adding power to it. First I used a magnifying glass to make sure nothing was shorting out metal to metal. Also there was no melting of the adhesive tape that could be ...
