Hi Hyti, please be more specific on what you do not understand. Is it threading? Or how Pyro works? BTW, there's an excellent tutorial you have to read anyway if you want to implement a non-trivial app. zeromq could be an option as well for the system you describe. No boot after today's (2012-6-16) pacman -Syyu

Updated my RPi today and now it doesn't boot anymore. Just the red LED, nothing else.

I did:

Power on
Login
# pacman -Syyu
# reboot

Anyone else has made this experience? What can I do now? Reinstall? Any new images out there (the latest is from April).

Found out that the best results may yielded, if only one step at a time is done in gparted: Delete a partition. Apply. CLose gparted. Eject card. Reinsert card. Resize neighbour partition. Apply. Is there a reason you aren't doing that which I've missed?
Yes, very bad experience with SD cards. Most don't work properly, even recently bought ones. On my 16 gig Transcend it takes ages to resize a partition :-(. Formatting them works, however.

I managed to mount the image file, thank you, AndrewS. But just copying the files to the partitions of my sd card will not work, I guess. There are numerous ELF- and BIN files, which have to be copied in a special way. How do I proceed to install arch from the content of the image to a 6 gig sd card...

I have a feeling finding a reliable, stable power supply is going to be easier said than done for many Pi owners.
Agreed, they all seem to be made for mobiles. And the situation seems even worse to me if it comes to SD cards.

I have several power sources here, but none of them has this micro-nano-or-whatever-tiny usb-plug. Any recommendations for power supplies? Had a look at Amazon. But which one will work with my RPi? What do you use?

@jamesh: this has nothing to do with the distro. The device does not boot. No green led, just the red one. No prompt, not even a signal to the screen. So it doesnt e ven bootstrap. @rurwin: it is the power supply of a nokia n97. There it worked flawlessly. So it should do with an RPi as well. Regard...

I have already recognized that RPi is a diva. But the kb is bare none, i.e. One key less and it is useless. Mouse is bare bone - well, a scroll wheel is sitting between the two mouse buttons. Should be okay even at an RPi. 5.00, okay I'll check that. But how then would this device be used with robot...

Keyboard and mouse. Disconnected them to see if that makes things better. Even disconnct the display, no success. As for the sd card: It's a sandisc which may be considered not being the worst of all that sd card rubbish out there. Again, choosing sd cards as the boot medium was a bad design decissi...

SDCards are a never ending source of troubles, especially when it comes to resizing them. Copying the image onto them works with SanDisk 8GB an Transcend 16 GB (not with Samsung 8GB).
