Gertbot on a RPi3 - Need help accessing GPIOs

Dear Raspians, I'd like to drive some LEDs using J3 on my Gertbot stacked onto a Raspberry Pi 3 until I get at some motors to drive them via the Gertbot. How would I do that? The manual seems to have some weak spots, e.g. I couldn't find J3 explained: Where is GND? Where is pin 1? How much current w...

Re: Distributed computing using Pyro4

Hi Hyti, please be more specific on what you do not understand. Is it threading? Or how Pyro works? BTW, there's an excellent tutorial you have to read anyway if you want to implement a non-trivial app. zeromq could be an option as well for the system you describe. It's lighting fast and doesn't nee...

Re: No boot after today's (2012-6-16) pacman -Syyu

Sorry for my ignorance (not git user), but how may I get at those files?

cd /tmp/alarm
git checkout https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware ... aster/boot

That doesn't do it somehow...

No boot after today's (2012-6-16) pacman -Syyu

Updated my RPi today and now it doesn't boot anymore. Just the red LED, nothing else.

I did:

Power on
Login
# pacman -Syyu
# reboot

Anyone else has made this experience? What can I do now? Reinstall? Any new images out there (the latest is from April).

Distributed computing using Pyro4

For those who are interested: I use Pyro4 for communication between my notebook and my RPi. This works completely transparent (thanks a lot, Irmen de Jong!). The code on RPi is: # -*- coding: utf8 import threading import time import Pyro4 class Server4Controller(threading.Thread): def __init__( self...

Re: File system size after using Gparted

Same observation here with one of my cards, but only once in my countless trials to resize them. Found out that the best results may yielded, if only one step at a time is done in gparted: Delete a partition. Apply. CLose gparted. Eject card. Reinsert card. Resize neighbour partition. Apply. Close g...

Re: Copy content of image to sd card instead of whole image

Is there a reason you aren't doing that which I've missed?
Yes, very bad experience with SD cards. Most don't work properly, even recently bought ones. On my 16 gig Transcend it takes ages to resize a partition :-(. Formatting them works, however.

Copy content of image to sd card instead of whole image

I managed to mount the image file, thank you, AndrewS. But just copying the files to the partitions of my sd card will not work, I guess. There are numerous ELF- and BIN files, which have to be copied in a special way. How do I proceed to install arch from the content of the image to a 6 gig sd card...

Re: Need a larger archlinuxarm image

It certainly shouldn't be taking that long! How exactly are you trying to resize the partitions? http://elinux.org/RPi_Easy_SD_Card_Setu ... ptional.29 Did it with partitionmanager (KDE), with gparted, and with parted as described @elinux.org. If you don't want to resize the partitions (and...

Re: Nope, that isn't it, yet...

I have a feeling finding a reliable, stable power supply is going to be easier said than done for many Pi owners.
Agreed, they all seem to be made for mobiles. And the situation seems even worse to me if it comes to SD cards.

Re: Nope, that isn't it, yet...

I have several power sources here, but none of them has this micro-nano-or-whatever-tiny usb-plug. Any recommendations for power supplies? Had a look at Amazon. But which one will work with my RPi? What do you use?

Re: Nope, that isn't it, yet...

@jamesh: this has nothing to do with the distro. The device does not boot. No green led, just the red one. No prompt, not even a signal to the screen. So it doesnt e ven bootstrap. @rurwin: it is the power supply of a nokia n97. There it worked flawlessly. So it should do with an RPi as well. Regard...

Re: Nope, that isn't it, yet...

I have already recognized that RPi is a diva. But the kb is bare none, i.e. One key less and it is useless. Mouse is bare bone - well, a scroll wheel is sitting between the two mouse buttons. Should be okay even at an RPi. 5.00, okay I'll check that. But how then would this device be used with robot...

Keyboard and mouse. Disconnected them to see if that makes things better. Even disconnct the display, no success. As for the sd card: It's a sandisc which may be considered not being the worst of all that sd card rubbish out there. Again, choosing sd cards as the boot medium was a bad design decissi...

I always had to cycle power (Nokia PSU, 5 V, 1200 mA) more than once to boot the RPi (archlinuxarm) after a reboot or shutdown - very annoying, but have got used to it. Today I installed some software and typed "reboot". Again as always the system hung up after going down, nothing new. So cycle powe...

Need a larger archlinuxarm image

SDCards are a never ending source of troubles, especially when it comes to resizing them. Copying the image onto them works with SanDisk 8GB an Transcend 16 GB (not with Samsung 8GB). Resizing them works only with the SanDisk. With the Transcend the resizing isn't finished even after more than 24 ho...
