Re: Need help : recording with USB webcam on button press

1) In terms of webcams, you should make sure that whatever you get it UVC compatible. Here's a list; http://www.ideasonboard.org/uvc/ 2) Not exactly sure how you would make a push-button work. Why not just have a keyboard with a button they can press to start and stop recording? 3) In terms of softw...

I too am trying to get webcams working on the raspberry Pi! I've only tried the initial debian squeeze image (updated), and have tried uvccapture and cheese using an old creative webcam instant and a relatively recent microsoft lifecame vx-3000. I've got the furthest with Squeeze here's a couple of...

Re: UVCcapture Error: Failed to Submit URB 0 (-4008)

Could someone provide details of how they compiled uvccapture? Answering my own question. I switched from Arch to Raspbian v3 and uvccapture is available through apt-get. Also, there is a patch to uvccapture-.05-1 source that I missed. So far, I haven't had much better luck with Raspbian and a coup...

Re: UVCcapture Error: Failed to Submit URB 0 (-4008)

Well, it's good to know I'm getting better at troubleshooting my RPi. However, there must be a way around this. I know you can use ffmpeg directly to capture a one-frame video then use ffmpeg to convert that video to a still but seeing as I don't know what format my webcams are outputting I don't kn...

Re: UVCcapture Error: Failed to Submit URB 0 (-4008)

Great, can u verify the cams somehow? Motion, cheese .... lets eliminate the hw<->os. I have a bunch of cameras (Some UVC supported, some not). The two ones that are UVC supported don't work on Cheese on my RPi (When started, Cheese displays the loading animation then gives a blank screen or crashe...

Re: UVCcapture Error: Failed to Submit URB 0 (-4008)

dmesg | tail helps ;-) But are your cameras running off the Pi's power or ext hub? Just to clarify at the moment I only have one camera plugged in at a time. Also, I get the same error messages whether it's in my powered hub or the RPi itself. EDIT: Yeah, sorry about the long dmesg output, I wasn't...

UVCcapture Error: Failed to Submit URB 0 (-4008)

Re: Copying SD Cards

Yeah, my first card (The one that worked) developed the same problem so I've been trying to use the back-up image all day. I've tried using the method in the link you posted but it gives the same error leading me to think it's a problem with the image itself and not the copying process. I'll use dd ...

Copying SD Cards

I'm trying to make a back-up image of my Arch SD card. I used the Disk Utility tool on a Mac and the instructions here: https://wikis.utexas.edu/display/comm/Mac+OS+-+Make+a+Backup+Copy+of+Your+SD+Card to create the back-up image. I then followed the Disk Utility instructions when creating the new S...

I think this thread is describing the same problem. The solution seems a bit more elegant too.

Re: Scientific Time Lapse System

Are you aware of CHDK? It's hacked firmware that runs on Canon compact cameras without voiding the warranty and enables features like manual mode, timelapse, motion detection and RAW files. It might be a better solution for you. I didn't know about this. It's a very interesting idea. The only probl...

Scientific Time Lapse System

I'm trying to use the RPi to create a system that allows me to take a time-lapse series of a plant while it grows (I ultimately want to be able to capture images from multiple cameras of many plants growing in the dark using an array of infra-red cameras). I have a sketchy plan of how I'm going to d...
