Re: RetroPie Player inside a GBA SP Shell!

@joe7dust - If this is your first build of this kind, I highly recommend you read through the build instructions and learning tutorials for the PiGRRL 2 and Pocket PiGRLL at Adafruit. That should give you a good understand of the technology and components required for such a build. https://learn.ad...

Re: RetroPie Player inside a GBA SP Shell!

It's to do with the chemistry used to produce the voltage. There is no 5v chemistry that I know of. So you need to use what you have, then convert to 5v. I had no idea that it is so complicated lol. I guess I figured if you can create a battery out of a lemon then the acidity or size could be adjus...

Re: RetroPie Player inside a GBA SP Shell!

There is no such thing as a 5 volt cell. You always need a DC-DC converter to step up or step down and to give a constant 5 volts to the RPi as the cell voltage falls. If you use a USB powerbank the booster is already inside that. And the charging circuit is in there too. If using a lithium cell, y...

Re: RetroPie Player inside a GBA SP Shell!

Speaker turned out to be 1.5W. That is going to be quite a bit louder than the 0.5W that most people used. Will be interesting to see how it works out. I still need to order switches and a battery. The goal here is to be as simple and cheap as possible while still retaining that stock look. I'd love...

Re: RetroPie Player inside a GBA SP Shell!

Update: That cellphone battery is too big, so looking for alternatives. Must be 2000 mAh or better, would be awesome if it was 5V so I could drop the booster from my design. Also on the audio stuff, I think I'll be building a PWM circuit so I guess I need to order a 270R, 150R, 33N & 10U for that.

RetroPie Player inside a GBA SP Shell!

Could someone please check my parts list to see if I forgot anything? [CORE] - RPi0 (not sure if the version with camera or not, does it matter?) - LCD - GBA SP shell + buttons - Battery - DC-DC booster to convert battery up to 5V *note: Not the recommended alternative to 1000c; seems to serve the s...

Re: Is pre-kickcstarter direct solicit appropriate here?

It might not be a question you are allowed to answer, but I am curious if the RPF even turns a profit on the zeros.

The zero seems like it might be sold at a loss in order to increase market share / user base.

Re: Raspberry Pi Zero power consumption

I hope these guys know I was speaking tongue in cheek in my reply. I definitely wasn't trying to insult or accuse anyone here of actually lying.

I'd be interested in trying that setup actually if I found a display that also ran off 3.3v. It was a feat in itself just to find one that runs off 5v.

Amazing build man! Did you weigh the original block of copper, and the finished product afterwards? I'm interested to know how much worth of copper went into making it vs how much copper is left in the finished product.

Re: Anyone found a 2cell lipo charging module?

I'm also interested in this if you find one that works with multiple batteries. I already ordered a $3 DC-DC booster to use a 3.7v-4.4v cellphone battery to supply 5v to my current RPi0 project, but would be interested in using more than 1 battery for extended life in another project later on.

Yea that list is kind of cute and quirky, but unless any of them have a good software like RetroPie or could run one of the dozens of Android/Windows emulators on them they wouldn't interest me.

A little birdie told me that you are all full of it, and that the Pi Zero will not even run off of 3.7v let alone 2.9 to 3.3 Is there a link to some proof on which party is actually correct on this subject? I'm just curious. ;) Fortunately for me I was able to pick up a DC-DC booster for just $3 and...

Did I miss something? I am not sure what was done inappropriately here unless you are just saying he can't solicit funds for his prototype here. Threatening to have his eventual kickstarter pulled because he "begged" for money to fund the prototype seems over the top to me, and I was not even aware...

You realise is comes with that driver board in the picture? Yea thats why I really like this model, the other screens I had found in this size either don't come with a driver board at all or it is sold separately and does't even include the proper connector attached to it for the 2nd & 3rd parts yo...

[WTB] 2.8 to 3.5 inch Composite Display for RPi0 (5volts)

I need one that is in stock in North America, so it can be here within a week. This one looks like it will work nicely but I can't find them anywhere outside of China at the moment. Another requirement is that it doesn't have any bulky boards or pins behind it, as it is going into the upper half of ...

Just one problem, I can't find it anywhere besides China. If anyone can help me find a XJ35T30 or similar 3.5" composite LCD for $25 or less that runs off of 5V power in the US I would really appreciate it!

Re: I have some questions about which peripheals I need for

Hi, no raspberry pi will work at 3.7v without additional booster hardware. So that's still an issue before you find a suitable display. Texy Would this work for running the RPi0 off a 3.7-4.4v Lipo cellphone battery? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-PFM-Control-DC-DC-0-9V-5V-to-USB-Module-5V-DC-Boost-S...
