is it posible to set up a crontab to
first back up a txt file to a usb drive and give it a file name using the date.
then delete all data in the original file?

Okay, thanks. You seem to have done a lot of things as root, using 'sudo' which I wouldn't recommend. However, to get you up and running as fast as possible, we'll leave it at that for now.
