Re: Raspberry Pi boot

Not enough information IMHO to help you.

This does not look like a Raspbian error. This looks like an error that was generated on a windows machine.

Re: setting up

The password will not show, you will see nothing as you type. This is normal.

https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentati ... e/users.md

The default password is raspberry, unless it was changed. If it is not working, then I suspect the default password is no longer the default password.

Thanks for the replies... Guess this mystery will remain unsolved. When I received my order of this book, I was surprised at the lack of information (publisher and author info). It would be interesting to know what you were wanting to run. We may be able to provide an alternative.

Re: I want to turn my Pi in to a local hardware firewall.

Yep, it is doable. However, this might be an easy option for you. I can see you having this http://computers.tutsplus.com/articles/installing-openwrt-on-a-raspberry-pi-as-a-new-home-firewall--mac-55984 installed on a SD card, and when you want the Pi to be a firewall, boot up on that SD card. Re: Raspi & iOS App: Using TCP Sockets to Send Images

Ok, I think I understand. In order to run Python from swift you will need some type of bridge between the 2 languages. To be honest, this is not an easy task to do because of the limitations we as developers have over the iPhone OS. In the end, I think it will take you less time to port the Python c...

Re: how to implement real time server?

The way it is currently set up is the Raspberry Pi is sharing wifi with my laptop over ethernet. The C# clients are started on the laptop. Should the timing be close to the ping values between the Raspberry Pi and my laptop and vice versa? I believe these are sub millisecond right now. Currently I ...

Re: serial communication raspberry pi in C

The easiest class I have found to use is part of the wiringPi library. https://github.com/WiringPi/WiringPi/bl ... ngSerial.h

It takes care of the low level details. I use this lib to talk to any serial device.

Re: Static IP address AND dhcp

Unless I am missing something, would it not be easier to just assign a proper host name to the Pi.

I am able to move any one of my devices onto a new network and am able to access it by its host name.

Clearly I am missing something in the OP.

I experimented with Polly however it does not meet my needs.

I simply did not remove the code.

The charting package I wish to use is the Chart.js. Sorry if that was not clear.

I also question if you changed the default Pi user name and password. Assuming you have a standard internet setup (i.e. a router providing internet to a number of devices on your LAN using NAT), and you haven't enabled port forwarding in the router, then a default username/password on the Pi is onl...
