Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ lockups

The 3B was a new design and it was running fine since day 1 without any issues, 3B+ is just an update to that design. I owned every Pi since the original RPi1 and never had any troubles, uptime of 300 days was nothing special on that devices. With the 3B+ i have issues since day once (over 2 months...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ lockups

It looks like yours is simply defective (ie probably a SoC that is too far out of spec to work correctly at the required settings). I''d return it for a replacement. Do you really believe that ??? The faulty rate of produced Pi3B+ is extremely high (mine two did not run stable with 500MHz == 100% f...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ lockups

This thread is mostly about Pi's that are either unreliable at 500MHz sdram or unreliable at 1400MHz arm frequency. The issue is complicated by the fact that other software errors (e.g. kernel hangs) may look very similar. If you are having problems with latest firmware then your issue isn't sdram ...

I have these issues as well, mine is locking up when running memtest after loop 7 even with 1200/450
Wow, that's tough. Mine is running memtest for hours, but under real conditions I can wait for the crash

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ lockups

We expect to fix the huge huge majority with a software fix. And considering that the problem is only a small percentage of SoC's anyway, that should be almost, if not absolutely, everyone. We did update the apt kernels etc today, so anyone with the problem might like to try an apt update/upgrade t...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ lockups

Hi! [.....] No errors after 16 loops! vcgencmd get_throttled throttled=0x0 So I tend to send my 3B+ back to Amazon to get a new one without this issues! What do you think? Greets I don't think that you'll get back a better board. I did the same, my first part I got from Pollin (it was a package fro...

It’s a shame that it appears like it’s a widespread issue with the 3B+ Though :(

Yeah, if only we had a bit of warning about these things!
The beta only works on the 3B+ at the moment.
Oh great  Just tested this beta on 3B+, works and I can confirm: works on 3B+ only

Re: STICKY: PINN - An enhanced version of NOOBS.

There is a beta version on sourceforce in the testing folder called pinn-25b1.zip (v2.5 beta 01). Most works but not fully tested. Please try it out and report any issues, preferably on github. Ah ok. I'll try after I have all my XBian updates done for Pi3+. In the meantime I have PINN disabled ;)

Re: Video Converter HandBrake 0.10.5 for RPi2&3

Creating and testing a Stretch version is on my to-do-list but other things have a higher priority. Yes, I know, you already talked about that But, this was not my question ;) My question was how did you get 28 fps when transcoding sd video I'm now on RPi3, not overclocked and I'm getting 8.8 avg f...

Re: Video Converter HandBrake 0.10.5 for RPi2&3

@gkreidl You won't find any version for the Raspberry Pi on their download page. I don't plan to create a newer RPi version just now, but perhaps after we have switched to Stretch. I built Debian Stretch package [1] today, but the result is very disappointing :( On my Cubieboard2 (it is 1GHz dualcor...

Re: Upcoming Device Tree changes

Ah - you need something to mount configfs on /sys/kernel/config. In Raspbian it's either an init rule - /etc/init.d/mountkernfs.sh - or a systemd service - /lib/systemd/system/sys/kernel-config.mount. Try running this: sudo modprobe configfs sudo mount -t configfs configfs /sys/kernel/config Yeah, ...

@PhilE Did it, but unfortunately no success. Folder is still empty. Of course, can not boot into installed system (no btrfs in kernel) but recovery console is up /sys fs is mounted but /sys/kernel/config is empty What about firmware, do I need special fw, mine is from Apr 28, or special dtb file? Re: Upcoming Device Tree changes

You've missed the point. I want you to build a kernel the standard way to confirm that it works, even though it won't contain all the features you want. You can then modify the configuration step by step until it no longer works. If, of course, the kernel with the original configuration still has a...

Are you building from the rpi-4.4.y tree? If so, which commit do you have as your HEAD? Our tree contains some additional patches that are required to support the configfs overlay interface. Re: Upcoming Device Tree changes

I have been experimenting with dynamic loading of overlays today but unfortunately it does not work My /sys/kernel/config folder is empty I'm using a self built kernel (4.4.8) because root fs is BTRFS, so I can not use standard kernel.
