Re: Pi zero crashes after cron.hourly

I was hesitant to do an upgrade, because I won't be near the pi for another few days, but did it anyway because these crashed won't do it a lot of good either. Ever since it hasn't crashed. Fingers crossed.

It Crashed again at 19:17 (from the syslog) but in reality it was about 19:28:xx So now I have quite a lot of logs to compare, what would be the best thing to look for? syslog: Aug 24 19:14:20 pingpong rngd[262]: stats: Time spent starving for entropy: (min=0; avg=0.000; max=0)us Aug 24 19:17:01 pin...

Re: Pi zero crashes after cron.hourly

The thing is, it doesn't occur on the same time of day. It does always occur after the cron.hourly job though. But not immediately after. That job runs every hour, so yes, something that crashes the Pi will always happen at sometime after the most recent run of cron.hourly. I suspect if you disable...

I'll keep copies of ps -efl, that's a good idea. They're not that big and I'll save them timestamped.

You'll hear from me after the next crash.

Thanks

That's what I'm thinking. But how do I find out? There is nothing in the logs anywhere after that..

Pi zero crashes after cron.hourly [solved]

Hi I have a zero Buster running RPI Cam Control and doing some GPIO reading with a python script. I noticed it crashes a couple of times a week, so I have activated the watchdog. From comparing logs at the times of the crashes It is now apparent that the crashes occur after the following line in sys...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

This is a crosspost from github issues, it's rather urgent so I hope you don't mind. I upgraded to stretch Linux thepi 4.14.98-v7+ #1200 SMP Tue Feb 12 20:27:48 GMT 2019 armv7l GNU/Linux. Using lighttpd Now the video stream is gone. Did apt-get install php7.0, removed rpi cam control and installed l...

Re: Raspberry pi 3 b+ red light flash

Nevermind I fixed think my OS version was not made for the 3b+. If you are having this issue, beware that the red led flash might not come from a power issue but an os compatibility issue. I second this. This is important information and should be more easy to find. Put a sticker on the box like 'u...

Watchdog not rebooting after transmit buffer overflow

Hi, I am using a Zero with a r8152 USB ethernet adapter. The watchdog runs ok and reboots the system when there is a genuine ping timeout. However after a buffer overflow on the r8152, if fails to restart even though it tries. The only way to resolve it is to restart it The running watchdog: sudo sy...

DIY: Quick and dirty Raspberry Pi security camera

Hi!

I made a DIY for a security camera using a Zero, without paying any effort to making it look nice, inside or outside. But it works.

Re: Stale file handle, but still accesible

That's right, I actually have a file there called 'notmounted' so I can tell that it isn't mounted. The stale problem does not occur when there is no mount and the directory and file in it are accessible.

Stale file handle, but still accesible

Hello, I have a 'ramdrive' on a pi host mounted on another client pi. It is the /dev/shm folder used by RPI cam control. Here is the mount instruction used for it: sudo mount -t cifs -o username=pi,password=\'?????' \"pib.local/ramdrive\" /mnt/pibramdrive I use a bash script to copy jpegs to it, whi...

Re: LDR readout not working properly on RPI 3

Hi Florisjan, Some remarks: About your warning, I have been running this setup for over a year on my B without any problems and I now got it working again on the 3. I would like to know what could cause the output voltage to be high? A fully charged capacitor acts like a battery of 3.3 V. The GPIO ...

Re: LDR readout not working properly on RPI 3

Hello Ferdinand, Thanks for your reply! I see I completely screwed up the code I posted here, sorry about that. For your information: The swap of high/low in line 11/16 was because I used a two way (no +/-) capacitor, allowing me to charge it and read it out with the same gpio, so a 3.3v wire is not...

LDR readout not working properly on RPI 3

Hello, I have just upgraded my pi 2 b to a 3. The ldr system with a capacitor (like this one)... https://pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-light-sensor/ ) https://pimylifeup.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Light-Sensor-Circuit.jpg ... worked flawlessly on the b+, but on the new 3 it only gives a result 1 o...

Live annotation

Hello, Last week I tried upgrading from 6.0.3 to 6.0.23 (the latest at that time.) I use a python script to change the annotation by appending the fifo file with an 'an' line, several times a second. This worked well in .3, but after the update it seems to interfere a lot with the system; very often...
