Yes, network boot has been added.
Is there any documentation available regarding network boot on RPi-4? I've trawled the board but most of what I've found looks to be a series of solutions to encountered problems …

My unreserved apologies - when I read "hub" in the OP I rather stupidly assumed it was referring to a hub and did not bother clicking on the link.

Hybrid (SD + SSD) boot 101?

Just to confirm my understanding of the hybrid boot process (meaning boot from SD and then switch to SSD) for either an RPi-3 or 4 with Buster: The only partition needed on the SD card is the small FAT BOOT which simply holds enough to get the system started to the point of telling it to then look t...

Is there any method to capture the boot / startup messages which scroll far too quickly to read?

Thanks to all for responses - I will retry the apt route over the coming days. Additionally I will burn a 2019-09 Lite to SD and have a wander round that just as an exercise.

Thanks for prompt responses - apologies, I should have stated that I had already run the apt commands but it came back saying no packages to be updated. Brilliant! Thank you so much - I had already commented out the PARTUUIDs but was still failing. Adding your modprobe suggestion was an immediate success and took me through to a login prompt.

Much appreciated!

Re: Network boot of 3B+ with Buster?

.. have done some more debugging today and I think the problem may be in my fstab in the /nfs/client1/etc folder. Watching the boot up messages, I can see a "Welcome to buster" - so that makes me assume the client is contacting the server and getting enough back to try and get started. Further throu...

Network boot of 3B+ with Buster?

Tried configuring network boot using a couple of 3B+ boards and Buster Lite following the guide on this site. It's close but just not quite working. One part which did not match the guide was device table and I'm wondering if this is different for Buster. The point I've reached is that the client lo...

Re: RPI4: Why is everything still 32-bit?

Both Oracle and Suse offer 64bit images for the RPi - although at this point they are aimed at the RPi-3 rather than RPi-4. However, I am reaching the conclusion that the Pi has become a victim of its own success to some degree. I think it's a brilliant solution for many situations but sometimes its...

PoE operations - controlling board start / restart?

With regard to the Raspberry PoE HAT on either a 3 or a 4: 1) Any way to connect a Pi to a live PoE Switch without the board booting? 2) After shutting down a PoE Pi, any way to start it up again without disconnecting and then reconnecting the Ethernet cable? The Quattro boards I use have a power ju...

Re: the Visual Studio Code - i want to get it to work with the RaspBerry Pi

VS Code supports remote development although at this time you might still need to use the Insider version. I use it on my Mac to work on an RPi-4 and the results are pretty good. You may need to install the remote extensions, then setup ssh to the Pi and you should be ready to edit directly on the P...

Re: trying to buy more than 1 pi zero

It is definitely frustrating! I wanted 4 zeros for a cluster exercise and hit the same problem. My solution was to submit 4 separate orders against 2 suppliers and that gave me what I needed. I think this is one of those situations where there is little point in complaining and that a pragmatic appr...

Re: Powering multiple Raspberry Pis

The Meanwell I am using is the HPR-150-5 which is rated to supply 26A at 5V. I sourced mine from Mouser although other equally-good suppliers are out there. Obviously you still have the issue of cabling to the individual boards which can degenerate into spaghetti when the Tribble effect comes into p...

A request for a Raspbian schedule

Something which has frustrated me for quite some time is the refusal to publish a Raspbian schedule. I am trying to keep this as objective as possible which is why I have deliberately not contributed to the various threads regarding features such as network and usb-only boot support for the RPi 4. I...

Thanks for the reply Dougie ... sounds like you're basically telling me to stick with the solution I have (using Apache for download) and don't bother using FTP for download?

What I have is working ... just wondered if eliminating the webserver component was a sensible move ...

Advice appreciated regarding FTP server ...

Hi, I would appreciate any guidance based upon experience regarding building a Pi to use as an FTP server. The use-case is: Regular upload (= to Pi) every 5 - 10 minutes from around 15 - 20 clients each sending about 20 small files (= between 1k - 25k each file). Download to iOS app every 5 minutes ...
