Need help with simple BBS/telnet server code.

The following code works fine the first time I make a connection, then crashes on the second connection. Can someone help me understand my implementation a little better? My current code looks like this.. #!/usr/bin/python import socket import sys import time from thread import * HOST = '192.168.1.1...

Python BBS, need help starting out..

I'm planning to learn Python by writing an old school BBS system for the Raspberry Pi. Can someone help me get this project started with a pointer to how to get Python to answer a telnet request, display some text and ask for a username and password?

Thanks

Recommendations for powered hub?

I'm finding that my 2 wired Xbox 360 game controllers and usb (Keyrah interface) keyboard are simply drawing too much power from my 3amp supply to keep the Raspberry PI 3 from complaining. (the dreaded rainbow of despair). Can someone recommend a good (and hopefully inexpensive) powered USB hub that...

VICE C64 GPIO access?

Just saw another Rpi/64 project posted...

Has anyone done any work to patch the GPIO pins into C64 VICE? Perhaps as userport pokes?

Re: 5v, 3amp ok?

A little more information.. These are 5v/2.5a and 5v/3.0a power supplies that were pulled from old DSL modems. They have a PC-style plug on one side and a wire with a 2.1mm barrel connector on the other. I purchased a few .99c adapters to adapt from the barrel to the proper plug and they seem to fit...

5v, 3amp ok?

I happened across a bunch of 5v 3amp and 5v 2.5amp power supplies that only needed a small adapter to make them work for the pi. I've been testing one on an old cell phone without issue.

Any problem with using 3amp supplies with the raspberry pi?

Thanks

List of the test points for Raspberry PI 3

Does someone have a link to the list of the test points on the bottom of the Raspberry Pi 3?
My "googlefoo" isn't working to locate this.

Thanks

Re: Guide: Chromium 50 on Raspbian Jessie

Has Chromium been added officially at this point?

For some reason I was able to do an apt-get update and apt-get install chromium-browser tonight successfully.
It's fast and makes using the Raspberry Pi on the web feel normal again.

Backing up my large uSD card

A couple questions about backing up my uSD card.. 1) As my cards continue to get larger, is there a way to backup my cards without backing up the empty space on the card as well? In other words, if my card is 16GB and has 11GB of free space is there a way to back it up as a <>5GB file? It might help...

Re: Raspberry Pi is The 50 Most Influential Gadgets of All T

I love the idea of this but..

Raspberry Pi is 45 (5 below Google Glass?!!) and the Magic Wand Vib.. eh Massager is 10?

Sadly, Time used to be better, or perhaps I was younger and naive.

Zero Test Point Documented?

Does someone have posted Documentation on the test points for the Pi Zero?

So far I've found...
  • PP1 = +5v
    PP6 = Gnd
    PP22 = USB D+
    PP23 = USB D-
Does anyone have the others?

Thanks

Re: Why not move to using Discourse for this forum?

I'd rather that the Raspberry Pi foundation be in the "Raspberry Pi" business and not in the forum business. The current website and forums are working well and personally I'd prefer the time/efforts be invested in development of the hardware and software of the product itself.

With all of my "required" apps, I'm around 190mb of free memory. Is it possible to reduce the size of /tmpfs (currently at 218mb)? Is that how much you are using or how much it is capable of using if filled? What is the GPU split? <facepalm>I hadn't thought about the GPU split.</facepalm> Reduced i...

Reducing /tmpfs on RasPi Zero?

With all of my "required" apps, I'm around 190mb of free memory.

Is it possible to reduce the size of /tmpfs (currently at 218mb)? If so, how and how much can I safely reduce this?
I'd love to have between 50-100mb back. I'm running tightvnc with xfce for python programming.

Why is .bash_profile killing my terminal colors?

When I create a .bash_profile with one alias command, it's killing all of my terminal colors (all text is white on black at re-login).
If I delete the .bash_profile and log back in everything is fine again.

What's happening here?

Thanks in advance.
