Re: Raspberry Pi 3B+ Media center build

As there's been no replies. I'm guessing that there isn't anything that I can use out of the box. So it's time for me to build a box. Here's my thoughts, before I get started properly. I've got a plan to build a box for my PI, WD Harddrive and my Anker 10 port USB HUB. The HUB will power the PI and ...

Raspberry Pi 3B+ Media center build

Hi everyone. I've got a lovely media center that's based around a Rasberry PI 3B+ now, well it was using a 3B until I upgraded. However, I've suspected that there's been a problem for a while and I've now confirmed it. My PI was installed in a MediaPi case. Plugged into the PI was a wireless keyboar...

Re: [Guide] Scheduled Reboots: Keep your Pi Fresh!

Stumbled across this post after my Raspberry PI 2, stopped working and would not reboot. I'm guessing that the memory card has corrupted again and I'll have to rebuild it. This is the second time it's happened for me. So I'm thinking about instigating a weekly reboot, just so that the PI can go thro...

Pi 3 as a bridge between wired router and phone hotspot

Hi everyone., I'm looking for a little help with what should be a relatively simple (he says) project. I have a Raspberry Pi 3. And what I'd like to do is set it up to connect to a Wifi connection, which will have internet access. (This could be my phone, but it could also be a hotspot that requires...

Rugged case for official touchscreen

I'm in the process of designing and building a motorised camera slider, using a PI 3 to control the motors and shutter release. Rather than have to use bluetooth, wifi or anything like that to control the PI out in the middle of a field, I'm going to use the official touchscreen as my input device. ...

Re: How-To: Pi as an Active Directory Domain Controller

I've tried following this guide and have got to the point of having provisioned the domain, however when I attempt the first test this is what I get.... smbclient -L localhost -U% Connection to localhost failed (Error NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED) I'm not really sure what to do about this. Any ideas?

Re: How-To: Pi as an Active Directory Domain Controller

I'm working through the post that you've put together, as I'm looking to add a domain controller to my dhcp, dns, ntp, vpn setup on my pi 3. From my down dealings with raspbian jessie, I've got as far as setting up the static ip part and noticed that there is a problem in your steps. The problem is ...

Re: Setting up DHCP/static IP address

For anyone following up. I've created a post on setting up a DHCP server using Raspbian Jessie. http://blog.cjdawson.com/?p=402 Actually, it's part of a series of posts where I'm setting up a PI3 to do DHCP, DNS, OpenVPN, NTP and active directory. I've got everything working apart from the active di...

Re: Automated OpenVPN Server Setup Script

I've not looked at the script, however, I do know that most of the VPN Setup guides on the web are out of date. I'm working on a server for my home based on a PI 3 running Raspbian Jessie. Some of the things have changed since Wheezy which may be enough to break automated scripts. Here's the post th...
