Re: What's different about how the pi 4 boots?

I understand it’s going to upgradable and that’s great but it doesn’t explain the process it goes through at boot. How does booting work in a pi 4 that’s different from previous generations? Does it not try to pull a binary off storage via GPU anymore?

Pretend I’m an idiot.

What's different about how the pi 4 boots?

I wanted to run lakka on a pi 4. Obviously, it isn't ready for the pi 4 yet so I tried a tried I used on the 3b+ when it first came out. I dropped in the newer bootcode.bin, overlay, and bcm*.dtb files. That should at least get it to boot right? No. The 4b looked briefly at the SD card and noped out...

Re: camera module in 64 bit mode

I dont think so. The cores share memory, so if one writes something 64bittish, another core would read it as 32bittish and it wouldn’t make sense.

Also, “bittish” is a language and 32/64 are dialects. The internet will make it so.

Re: camera module in 64 bit mode

I get that 64 bit isn’t a priority and was never a target for the pi foundation. It just annoys me there is a feature there that I haven’t been able to use.

Re: distorted audio on youtube/pandora

So if I wanted to use chromium or Firefox on the pi, I would have to do it without hardware acceleration?

distorted audio on youtube/pandora

Wether I use the built-in analog, HDMI or an external USB audio device, All I get from youtube and pandora is what's in the video below. I know, I'm using xubuntu rather than raspian, but the aesthetics of raspian turned me off of it right away. Ubuntu MATE was also tested and while it behaved with ...
