Help with source for KS2 info on radio waves/antennas

Afternoon, I'm in need of sources for KS2 level information on radio waves and Antennas. The reason is that my son wants to do his science project on receiving NOAA satellite weather images with a homemade antenna. I've all the parts; RTL-SDR, materials for the antenna build ( This one which is abou...

Re: SelectMagazines/Publishing

I'm in the same boat. I have a feeling that they have been caught off guard.

I just called them and they confirmed my copy was shipped yesterday so I should get it in the next few days.

Re: MagPi subsciptions not available ?

I subscribed on sunday and got the conformation email.
I wonder when I will get my packages.
I subscribed on the 5th. Still no sign of my issue 57 and nothing back from Select Magazines when I emailed them asking for an update.

Re: Volume control

Yeah I get a corrupted audio response too when asking it to change the volume. Then everything is back to normal, however the volume does not change.

Re: Faulty HAT?

I get no sound or error. Speaker connection is solid (have tried re-seating it loads of times now), I do not have a different speaker to test (at work ATM) but the speaker included responds when a voltage is applied to it from the RPI's 5v and gnd pins, so I'm sure that works. It's just getting zero...

Re: Faulty HAT?

Yeah, I just remembered to apt update etc.

I can record now but still not get any audio when playing back :(

I guess this HAT is DOA. Looks like I'm out of luck then. Well it'll make a paperweight that will have people asking questions at least.

Faulty HAT?

So I picked up my copy and kit this morning and I've built it following all instructions and sadly I can not get the sound to work :( I have checked the speaker works by touching it to the 5v and gnd pins on a powered up pi and this does cause the speaker to activate. So the speaker is not faulty. I...

RealVNC on Pixel: How to change default screen size?

Just need some help with a headless RPI3 I have running VNC. How do I change the default resolution from 640x480 to say a 720p resolution: 1280x720?

Thanks.

GRSEC kernel - raspbian on rpi2/3

Just wondering if any one has managed to get a grsec kernel running on raspbian Jessie at all?

If so do you have any pointers? I'm about to start trying to get it running on a pi that will always be connected to the internet.

Standoff sizes for stacking Pi's

Just wondering if it would be possible to use M2 sized standoffs for stacking Pi's?
I know that the holes in the PCB are M2.5 sized but finding standoffs of that diameter in 20mm lengths is a pain.

Thanks.

Re: model b boot issue. odd voltage readings.

I have tried the 2amp charger from both my ee 4g mifi and my oneplus one. As well as using a USB TTL cable. All show issues with the voltage as in my first 2 posts. These psu's have never had any issues before now.

Re: model b boot issue. odd voltage readings.

Just to add I have also tried powering it from a USB TTL console cable. The voltage with the SD card in reads 4v and the power light is unsurprisingly dim. The CPU/ram package also feels too hot to touch as well but not as much as it does when connected to the mains.

model b boot issue. odd voltage readings.

So I have a 512mb model b pi that seems to have stopped working while I was away at work last week. This was a replacement modmypi sent me after a SD card adaptor from them broke the SD card holder on a previous pi and this pi is about a year or so. I tried to fire up the pi to run osmc and plug in ...

I was wondering if there was any news on the progress of the fabled Raspberry Pi display at all? I've not seen anything on it for ages and was wondering if it is even still being developed.

With the new compute module you could easily design a blade chassis to house as many rPi's as you needed.

Re: Transfer speed SAMBA/ethernet/router

Don't forget that the protocol overheads of samba will also slow down the transfer speeds as well.
Ideally for the Pi you will want to use a protocol with small overheads so as to get the fastest transfer speeds. I found FTP and NFS to be ok.

Re: UPiS - Uninterruptible Power intelligent Supply

Looks to be just what I need for a project I have in mind.
What sort of time frame do you have for these going on sale? and do you have any plans in the future to allow for increasing the battery backup? So that the Pi can run for longer when the mains is down?
