MINIX to RPi

Hello there!

I have been reading information about Minix. I am interested in kernel development for some weeks now. That means I am going to try to understand how I can get Minix to the RPi.

If you are interested in my project (called 'Serenity') you can go to my site: MBeentjes.

Re: minix3

I am new to OS Development and I have accepted the challenge to get MINIX3 running on the Pi. It can take months for me, but I am going to take Linux and Minix and compare those two on how it works. If you are interested in my project (called 'Serenity') to get MINIX3 to RPi, you can go this website .

GPIO communication

Hi, I have been doing some research about kernel development, and I read that you can expend the Linux kernel by writing kernel modules . Now have I seen a couple images of the RPi itself and you see that it has a row of pins, the GPIO. I am interested in those. If I want to let the GPIO work with a...

Re: - Help - Programming a simple OS

I think it's better to write Linux from Scratch. Via this way you will learn how the Linux kernel works.

Program your own OS. Linux kernel or own kernel

Hi,

I have been thinking of programming my own operating system for the RPi. I read I can program my own kernel or use the Linux kernel. Is it a better idea to use the Linux kernel?

Re: Recommeded C++ dev environment ?

I have went to some teachers on my school and talked about the RPi as an end project for my comprehensive. They seems to be excited, telling me that it's a great idea. But I still have to think of a good research that will be understandable for an average human. I am thinking of starting to create a...

Re: Recommeded C++ dev environment ?

Nice to read that gcc will be supported on RPi, that means I will use the RPi for programming software for Linux.

Thank you for the information.

Re: Fedora ARM on Raspberry Pi

I heard that Fedora wasn't fully trustable as a distro for Pi, am I right? Or is there a stable Fedora release for Pi now?

Re: Introduce yourself!

Hello, My name is Martin, sixteen years old and from the Netherlands. I have been programming in C++ for just over one year now. And with the coming of the Raspberry Pi, I am interested in this little wonder. So I decided to buy one. At the moment I haven't registered or bought one, but I am already...
