Re: Pi Zero w/Buster won't rejoin network after cycling router

I have not suffered this with my pi 4 on buster , I often pull the LAN cable when testing software and I have always found my pi will reconnect. You could try a fresh download and install of buster just in case its a problem with your image. if you still suffer problems then you could just run this...

Re: Pi Zero w/Buster won't rejoin network after cycling router

Bumping this with a further update... Now the Pi Zero (the one with Buster) is simply losing connection to my network (or has crashed? How can I tell when it's a headless setup?). I can't SSH into it, I tried pinging everything from 10.0.1.2 - .100. It's not there, leaving me no choice but to pull t...

One of my test cases for the pi4 was tvheadend with a pair of wintv dualhd dingles,
Is a dingle different than a dongle?

Or is the plural for dongle dingle?

I suppose it sounds funny to say you had a single dingle.

Have you tried updating buster on the affected pi's , there have been a lot of updates since it release.

Code: Select all

sudo apt update
sudo apt full-upgrade
then reboot.
Yes, I’ve kept up with all updates. Previous one was just a few days earlier.

Pi Zero w/Buster won't rejoin network after cycling router

I have 2 Zeros sitting side by side. One is the original Zero with Stretch the other is a Zero WH with Buster. (both OSs are light installs) Both are running headless and both are using Pluggable usb/ethernet adapters to connect to my network. They are connected to a TP-Link TS-SG108 switch. The rou...

Re: Using Dropbox

The Dropbox-Uploader script (link posted above) works great. I use it on my Zero to download some radio show podcasts and then upload them to my Dropbox account for listening on my iPhone. This is all automated and shell scripted. (You must first do a one-time setup in your Dropbox account to create...

1. Get a printing press
2. Control it with a Raspberry Pi
3. Go to jail
How does part 3 make money?
The “making money” part happened at the printing stage.

Re: Uses for Raspberry Pi Zero/Zero W?

I use one to capture/download some radio show podcasts which are then uploaded to my Dropbox account. And then I listen to them on my iPhone. It’s all totally automated, driven by some shell scripts and cron. And in some cases I use a SQLite database to keep track of which shows have been downloaded...

Re: Vnc server (v2.5) error raspbian buster : unable to start vncserver

In case anyone wants to go this route...

I have an HDMI dummy plug that makes the OS think a monitor is attached.

This works perfectly with VNC (even after this update). No virtual mode needed.

It cost $6, requires no drivers or setup or anything.

Re: SOLUTION: VNC does not start on a headless Raspberry pi.

My solution to this was to use an HDMI “dummy plug”.

It’s a small dongle plugged into the HDMI port that makes the OS think there’s a monitor plugged in.

It was $6 and required no additional installs, drivers or anything else.

VNC now works perfectly. I access it from my iPad.

Screen size of VNC on iPad connecting to Pi4

I'm using VNC on an iPad Pro (13") to connect to my Pi4. It works fine but there's a minor problem that the entire screen isn't visible at once. I have to scroll left/right. But it seems like there's enough real estate to hold the entire thing. Does anyone know if there's a setting to allow that? I'...
