Re: Can I just use a USB -> Ethernet adapter on a RPi Zero?

I use one made by Pluggable. Works perfectly.

Didn’t need to install any drivers or config anything. Plug n play.

Re: Performance Pi Zero W vs. Pi 3 (Homebridge, CUPS, Pi-hole)

I also run Pi Hole on a Pi Zero but only my Windows machine is pointing to it.

Works great, I don’t notice any slowdowns.

I’m also using the Adafruit oled display for stats display. But I reduced the refresh rate from 1/10 th of a second to once per minute.

If the log files in ram are eventually written to the SD card anyway how does this method reduce writes?

I do not have a Solid State Drive, yet, I should be getting a A+ SD tomorrow. What are the recommended SSD to use with USB2? Ralph I'm not aware of a list of known compatible drives, but the one I bought was an "Inland" 120gb SSD for $18. (Inland is Microcenter's house brand). That plus a $5 USB en...

Re: Overheating in official Rpi white/red case

If the 3B+ gets to a certain temperature it will automatically throttle down so it will protect itself. Still, many people have installed heat sinks or fans to prevent that throttling from happening. Entirely up to you though. I bought a cheapie case on Amazon that has a small fan. Even under the he...

Good idea with crontab. But a bad idea at the same time. Still looking, it does exactly what you asked, if you want to do something else then ask that other ways - you could setup a watchdog to reboot your RPi on certain conditions, though the best bet is to fix whatever you have that makes it need...

The reason creating a wpa_supplicant file isn't essential is because you could connect the Pi3A+ to a USB to Ethernet adapter and do it all over a wired network. I must admit, the more I learn about the growing body of evidence that Wifi and mobile phones cause cancer, the more I want to go wired. ...

Works well, is fast, and comes with GCC 8.2 ready installed! https://github.com/sakaki-/gentoo-on-rpi3-64bit This brief ARM doct is a q...

You might also try using Etcher to copy Raspbian to the sd card. Etcher will do a verify after writing, Windiskimage will not.

This might let you know if you have a bad sd card. It can happen.

Re: Door Cam Pi Zero: What to use for fast image/video access?

Don't dismiss the Google search. There are some videos that are totally relevant to your question.

The very first one is not using a Pi Zero but you can get an idea of the speed. The Pi Zero won't be quite as fast but should be more than quick enough.
