Re: VL805 firmware release 0137ad - fixes for Isochronous streams

Doing the update via rpi-eeprom-update which uses recovery.bin to flash it at startup is the preferred method now. Updating directly using the vl805 tool can cause problems if you're using USB at the time. Aha, I just followed instructions from OP sudo rpi-eeprom-update -f vl805_fw_0137ad.bin You m...

Re: VL805 firmware release 0137ad - fixes for Isochronous streams

Code: Select all

$ sudo vl805 -w vl805_fw_0137ad.bin
VL805 FW version: 000137ab
VL805 EEPROM successfully reprogrammed - please reboot to activate.
~ $ sudo vl805
VL805 FW version: 000137ab
Still hanging with reboot (SSD USB3 root)

But after power-cycle:

Code: Select all

sudo vl805
VL805 FW version: 000137ad

Re: BCM2837B0 and ARMv8 Crypto Extensions

The demand would have to be HUGE for us to change SoC manufacturer just for crypto extensions. It isn't, as shown by the small number of people on this thread. Having some devices with it and some without would be a logistical nightmare. +10 for crypto extensions. I was a bit disappointed to see th...

Thank you.
Will try it out. :)

Already got the DAC working without TV-Hat.

Do not understand the HAT ID EEPROM issue completely, but I guess I figure that out.

TV-HAT and pcm5102 DAC

Can a TV-HAT be connected together with a PCM5102 DAC? Connecting the pins on top of the TV-HAT, something like this: SCK > GND BCK > PIN 12 (GPIO18) DIN > PIN 40 (GPIO21) LRCK > PIN 35 (GPIO19) GND > PIN 6 (GND) Ground VIN > PIN 2 (5V) See: https://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/76188/how-...

Or make less more more instead of no more:

Code: Select all

whatis less
less (1) - hyponym of more

Re: We want "more"

:)

This is in .bashrc on the PI

Code: Select all

# make less more friendly for non-text input files, see lesspipe(1)
#[ -x /usr/bin/lesspipe ] && eval "$(SHELL=/bin/sh lesspipe)"
Uncommenting helped, I do wonder if less shouldn't be more by default.

Re: Pi 4 4GB- Wifi not working when resolution is set too high

The RPF people are aware of the issue that some HDMI video modes generate frequencies that can interfere with WiFi, and, according to this post they are attempting to solve the problem with software: Friday's rpi-update firmware release includes a patch to choose an HDMI mode for 2560x1440@60Hz wit...

Re: Pi 4 4GB- Wifi not working when resolution is set too high

Most people out there I've spoken think it is a Raspberry Pi 4 problem and not a faulty HDMI cable. That's probably because most people have been led to believe that expensive and so-called better HDMI cables are not necessary, are a money-taking scam; cheap cable is just fine, and in most cases it...

Reproduced problem testing 2 cables and 2 monitors. Problem more complex than thought, because not only cable but also the monitor is causing issues. Also, counter intuitive HDM1 is worse than HDMI0 on ONE monitor. SETUP RPI4 2GB Official PSU Cable (1) micro HDMI 1.4 Cable (2) micro HDMI 2.0 WIFI AP...

Re: Pi 4 4GB- Wifi not working when resolution is set too high

As for how big it is, we've only had a few reports in, and since the particular combinations are unusual, it's not huge. 2560x1440 reduced blanking appears to be the culprit mode, combine that with a low quality cable and 2.4Ggig wireless and you *might* see a problem. I had it with TV-Hat and 1920...

Re: Pi 4 4GB- Wifi not working when resolution is set too high

"Yes, there can be interference, just use high quality cables" is what we have always said, I believe. Maybe not in those exact words, but certainly that is what we advise. I did some testing on this, and could not replicate any issues, because I never hit the exact combination that can cause probl...

Re: Pi 4 4GB- Wifi not working when resolution is set too high

The problem seems to be very very specific. You need to be using specific HDMI modes, specific Wifi channels and using bad cables. We are still looking in to mitigation to cope with these bad cables. Not easy though. Sorting out RF interference is a difficult thing, way out of my knowledge base. Mi...

Re: Pi 4 4GB- Wifi not working when resolution is set too high

Also came to the conclusion that the HDMI cable/interference is the cause here.

Changed the cable, and it solved my problems. It the meantime I also tweaked some minor things, but I don't see the problem anymore after choosing a lower channel number.
