Re: Reset 1-wire Bus - DS18B20

I think I have found solution. I had Raspberry Pi Zero W with two thermometers connected to it (sqlite3, apache2 for storing and presenting data) and everything worked fine. My problems started when I have connected third thermometer. After some search and tests I think that the solution is length o...

Re: Pi in the sky - RC Plane

Hello,
Now I have RPi camera board :)
Link to captured videos playlist.

The project is alive. But as always I have not much time for developing. :(

Re: Pi in the sky - RC Plane

I plan to use sonar for landing approach because gps altitude data in most cases have big error (sometimes more than 10m). My sonar has 6m range. This project main objective is to avoid collision with the ground, help with landing approach and flight stabilization. Collision avoidance will be the ne...

Re: Pi in the sky - RC Plane

Hello,
I have bought sonar, gyroscope, servo driver, lcd with keypad and I'm trying to build pwm to i2c converter. In the meantime I'll write software to drive all these devices.

Re: I2C: How to connect multiple devices.

Hello, I checked every device and only LCD requires 5V power supply. All other devices work with 3V3 or 5V. I think that better solution is to connect all devices to 5V but I found infromation than i2c devices should be powered 3V3 and if I want to use 5v then I have to use logic level shifter. Do I...

Re: I2C: How to connect multiple devices.

Hello, I have another questions: 1. "Hotplug" - is it safe to connect/disconnect I2C device to working RPi? If it's safe and should be like this: - Connecting: GND 5V/3V3 SCL SDA - Disconnecting: SDA SCL 5V/3V3 GND 2. Connecting multiple devices ... I have: Sonar (5V) Servo driver (3V3) LCD + keypad...

And what about power consumption.
Is there any danger if I connect too many devices?

I2C: How to connect multiple devices.

Hello, How can I connect multiple devices using I2C? In Map Pi issue 04 there is 3-axis accelerometer example and it's connected directly. In I2C docummentation there is information about pull up resistor (do I need to use it?). How can I connect for example: 3-axis accelerometer 3-axis gyroscope ul...

Re: Pi in the sky - RC Plane

I'd just like to know how you got the webcam to work so well. I've had no luck so far at all. I tried to record from two different cameras: Logitech Quickcam E3500 Logitech Quickcam 9000 PRO E3500 is older but captured video is much better and it can be rotated. 9000 Pro is newer and it has better ...

Re: Pi in the sky - RC Plane

I used bluetooth to check if it will work (and simple bash script is working fine).
But in final version of this project I have to use I2C.

pygmy_giant Can you send me your c code for reading I2C?

Re: Pi in the sky - RC Plane

Let's say that I fixed plane. It's looking funny but there are no problems with flying. Yesterday I flew with gps and everthing worked fine. I updated google doc with project description ( link ) In attachment there are two files converted from gps data (nmea) to google earth format (kmz). Flight 1 ...

Re: Pi in the sky - RC Plane

I think that better solution is to connect 3-axis gyroscope and setup up angles for each axis. When angle for specified axis is higher/lower than setup value then react right rudder. With this solution you can't do aerobatics but you can learn how to fly theoretically without crashes. Another way to...

Fortunately, I remove RPi and webcam before crash ... I gave the plane a friend. He flew too close to the trees and caught on branches, fell and hit the ground vertically.

Re: Pi in the sky - RC Plane

That's a very cool little aeroplane! It's not so little: wingspan: 140cm length: 92.5cm Now I'm thinking about something bigger (wingspan 200-220cm) :) I wish my kid was a bit older so that I would be able to justify buying one to SWMBO ('s educational, honest! No of course I haven't bought if for ...

Re: Pi in the sky - RC Plane

Hello, This is last picture before crash. To mount RPi there are two rubbers one under and one above RPi. Another a few rubbers to mount webcam. In front there is switch to turn on/off RPi. As you can see RPi is half inside hull. Let's say that I fixed plane but the weather is too windy to try if ev...

Re: Pi in the sky - RC Plane

Do you already have the plane and if so could you add weights to test it will still fly after your modifications? Yes I have this plane and ... as you can see here (or look at this post ) it's flying with camera. I think that gps + gyroscope + accelerometer will give something about 20 to 40 grams ...

Re: Pi in the sky - RC Plane

Hello,
I was flying here.

Link to captured videos playlist.

The weather condition were difficult because of strong wind so plane was very unstable.
I have to change some video settings because sometimes there are "speed ups" - it looks like fast forward with preview.

Re: Pi in the sky - RC Plane

You should not run the Pi off the receiver battery unless you fly for very short flight times. The last thing you want is the receiver giving up due to flat battery in the air! The receiver battery should only be used to fly the plane, any extras should be self powered to allow the flight to be car...

Solved, This is probably not the simplest way but it works.
