Re: Dead RPi 3 B+ after short circuit pin 1 and 2 of GPIO

Hello, guys. Sorry for rising that dead topic, but I want to say you guys are not alone :D A couple of weeks ago I also did a short circuit between 3.3v and 5v pins. It was very stupid because I decided to plug in a fan while Pi was powered on :( Since my Pi was in a box at the moment it was a littl...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3B+, Colored square logo takes a long time

Then the problem will be a weedy power supply or a fried Raspberry. I use a genuine power supply. Seems like the problem with the kernel actually, because the green LED is blinking quickly like when the kernel prints boot messages, but the colored square doesn't disappear. You wouldn't happen to be...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3B+, Colored square logo takes a long time

Hello. I've tried the fresh Raspbian, it took less than a second. Obviously something is wrong with my kernel, but I was sure the colored square disappears before the kernel starts to boot. Also I've tried to reformat the boot partition and restore files but it didn't help. No idea what's wrong

Re: Raspberry Pi 3B+, Colored square logo takes a long time

Yes, I've checked up the filesystem, it was successfully checked and repaired (there was a dirty bit indeed). I don't have a Windows machine so I've done the checkdisk in Linux. But that didn't solve the problem, because it still works as before - around 8 seconds before the operating system will st...

Raspberry Pi 3B+, Colored square logo takes a long time

Hello everyone. Please tell me how long do your Raspberries take before the kernel starts to boot. I just noticed my Raspberry Pi 3B+ takes around 8 seconds and I think it's too long in comparison with another Pi 2B that takes less than 1 second. I use bootcode.bin from the official github and didn'...

Re: Compilation for Cortex-M3 with ARM RPi 2B Toolchain

Hello, dwelch67 , thank you very much for your large response to me! I've tried to compile your code and it is works, I'm glad that I can use rpi2 toolchain to work with stm32 microcontrollers (I just tried to compile typical examples from Internet and they need not hard float point toolchain to com...

[SOLVED] Compilation for Cortex-M3 with ARM RPi 2B Toolchain

Hello, programmers. I'm trying to use armv7-rpi2-linux-gnueabihf toolchain to compile a program for STM32 microcontroller based on Cortex-M3 core. CFLAGS -std=gnu99 -mcpu=cortex-m3 -mthumb -ffunction-sections -fdata-sections -nostdlib -fsingle-precision-constant Code int main(void) { for (;;) { } } ...

Re: i2c-dev does not create an i2c-* in /dev

It is definitely because of kernel or modules or firmware. I just downloaded PiLFS image and replaced boot parition except cmdline and config files, replaced /lib/modules and /lib/firmware then rebooted Raspberry and i2c-1 has appeared. What could be disabled in the default configuration of Raspberr...

i2c-dev does not create an i2c-* in /dev

Hello everyone. I'm configuring my own linux image for RaspberryPi 2B from the official linux kernel 4.9.78-v7+ for Raspberry. I've done and it works but I have a problem with i2c interface. I have two strings in /etc/sysconfig/modules file: # I2C interface i2c-dev i2c-bcm2708 Also I have i2c-dev bu...

Re: Differences between a Generic Linux Kernel and a Raspberry Kernel

Kernels are compiled for different architectures and different capabilities. A kernel contains code that tells it how to interact with hardware, address memory, handle I/O and a number of other things. Config files are specific to the kernel they produce so you really don't want to try and use a co...

Differences between a Generic Linux Kernel and a Raspberry Kernel

Hello everyone. Could you guys tell me what the differences between the generic linux kernel which can be dowloaded from kernel.org and the official raspberry kernel? For example, can I use a default config file from the raspberry's kernel with the generic kernel?

Thanks in advance

[Solved] udev and login utils cannot access /etc directory

Hello all! I have one problem and cannot find any explanations for it. A few days ago i've installed last PiLFS image on my Pi 2B and now i cannot login to system. Login utility says me 'Login Incorrect', boot.log contains messages like unknown password for user 'UKNOWN'. System logs contains inform...

Re: Custom Linux System for RPi 2B

So, i've tried Pi Linux From Scratch, looks really better than Raspbian, but is it slower than Raspbian? It seemed to me PiLFS loading a little bit slower, especially daemons. Is it because of systemd in Raspbian?

Tiny Core Linux looks good also, i think i'll try it!

Re: Custom Linux System for RPi 2B

Pi Linux from scratch? http://www.intestinate.com/pilfs/ Well, looks very good. But i've downloaded a latest image and dd onto sd card, this is over 1 GiB on rootfs and also has a billion unneeded features like awk, sed, gcc for my goals. So that's really better than Raspbian for my goals, thank yo...
