Re: Improved USB-C on newer Pi4s?

I agree that it is the sensible thing to do. certainly not from a buyer's side point of view For 99.9999% of buyers it makes no difference at all... It is a non-issue ! PeterO I am the minority 0.0001% then, please clearly label the box as V1.2 for the minority that needs the USB-C compatibility. B...

Re: New Pi 4B v1.2?

Interesting that there is no 1.2 for the 2GB and 1GB Pi4Bs. A reasonable conjecture would be that there is an inventory surplus of 1GB and 2GB models, but due to unexpected demand the revised 4GB model is already in production and shipping. It would be interesting to see the sales numbers for 1GB, ...

Re: Pi Zero W: Max. number of WiFi clients?

I would agree with you. Pi is not very good as a router as it doesn't have connection to external antenna, and the pcb antenna, due to the space constraint, not one of the best designs either.
If a stable connection is important to you, use a standard router with rubber duck antennas.

Re: Buster bug report thread

LXPanel 0.10.0 regression bug I have a virtual interface uap0 of type __ap. In dhcpcd.conf I added: denyinterfaces uap0 So the dhcpcd can ignore this interface. In the past (0.9.xx), this setup used to work correctly. However, in 0.10.0, LXPanel now reports "Wi-Fi country not set", in fact it is alr...

Re: Pi 3 B+ Hostapd won't do 80MHz 802.11ac on all channels

The above link is to do with WPA/WPA2. WPA has nothing to do with 80211n (40MHz HT) or 80211ac (80MHz VHT). Yes, hostapd's wpa setting has some bugs too, it doesn't deal with wpa=3 correctly, you will get the best result by setting wpa=2. You can get 80211n/ac up and running if you setup the HT and ...

Re: Pi 3 B+ Hostapd won't do 80MHz 802.11ac on all channels

I hit the same problem just now. The problem is "vht_oper_centr_freq_seg1_idx" is not implemented correctly. If you really want to use channel 149, reuse the variable for seg0, set vht_oper_centr_freq_seg0_idx = 155. When you change back to channel 36, set vht_oper_centr_freq_seg0_idx = 42. Also the...

Re: Pi4 Buster - VNC headless resolution stuck on 1024x768 [SOLVED by manual intervention]

Thanks for all the suggestions. I solved it by forcing hdmi_force_hotplug and choose a DMT mode (hdmi_group=2, hdmi_mode=??) in config.txt and then used the Screen Layout Editor to change the the resolution there again. And don't forget to go back to the menu again and select Configure > Apply or cl...

Re: WIFI Dongle Edimax EW7811UN not working after last updat

I'm running the latest kernel 4.4.21. Nope, you can not use the bundled new Realtek driver with the modified hostapd. Instead, you must use the original hostapd and nl80211 driver.
Put:
drive=nl80211
back in your .conf file.
If you don't the WPA authorization will fail.

Re: Any known problems on Pi 3 with Kingston Micro SD cards?

Kingston do not a manufacture any flash memory, they are the bottom feeder in the highly cut-thoat flash memory market. They often buy unwanted and rejected memories at discounted price and package them as their own brand and then flog them off to the retail market. No OEM will touch them.

My P3 is not able to connect to channel 11 also. Even after I switch to use channel 6, it's still not as fast as my Edimax USB dongle. If you do a ping, you will see the latency is 10+ms and unstable.
