Hi, The device tree is modified by the bootloader based on the "config.txt" settings for memory. Your solution of only providing 768MB to the Linux kernel seems technically sound, not sure why that didn't boot. Surely someone else in this forum (or further investigation) can shed some light on this....

Looks like an endian-ness issue (R and B are swapped in the output pixels). Try reversing the byte order of your pixels.
