Found the issue. Keyboard setting was incorrect. Once I got the keyboard correct the command worked

Sorry, typo on my part...I am using apt-get not app-get.

App-get command not found

I just installed Debian 8.1.0 Jessie from the downloads page. When I tried app-get update (or any app-get) it says the command not found. There is another thread that says sudo may not be installed by default. I tried following the suggestions at https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/forum/discussio...

Yep, that worked. The syntax for the file names was incorrect. Avconv created the .mp4 file. Haven't been able to get omxplayer to run it yet but that is a problem for another post.
