Significance of Linux Kernel releases

I recently read that the Linux Kernel 4.9 release introduced support for ARM powered devices including the Raspberry Pi Zero. That got me thinking and brought me to the realisation that there's a huge gap in my knowledge on the effort people go through to get operating systems running on the Raspber...

Re: RPi as Church Presentation Tool

For song lyrics, OpenLP on RPi does the job. Even on a RPi Zero although it takes 5 minutes (including boot from cold) to start up. It does it even better on the RPi 3. Stage view, searchable song database, automatically opening last saved Service are all great for songs. I install it by getting the...

Re: RPi as Church Presentation Tool

... Next step, get version 2.2 onto the RPi, even if it means compiling from ssorce code. ... I should have also mentioned I disabled a lot of the plugins (media, bible, etc) so that the search screen is only searching for songs. No other content. Getting the latest running on RPi is a project I'm ...

Re: How to trigger a Left Click mouse event with 7" touch sc

It should work, perhaps your doubleclick time is too short, that will make it seem like it's not working. You've probably noticed how fast you have to doubleclick with the mouse, the default value is low, IIRC it was only 1/5 of a second. I was having trouble double-tapping (doubleclick) on the tou...

How to trigger a Left Click mouse event with 7" touch screen

The 7" display was looking promising for a simple touch screen audio recording and playback project with Audacity but play, pause, record, stop, etc. buttons are not behaving properly. The mouse movement (including mouse over) is registered and a press on the screen will highlight the icon for the b...

Re: Apps known to support dual display

Exactly. So far i know this limits users to Kivy , Kodi and omxplayer. There was a new enviroment variable for other dispmanx apps too - i just can't find the thread now ... ghans I had a look in the userland repository ... it is VC_DISPLAY . The only reference I could find to it on the forum is he...

Re: Apps known to support dual display

There is very little software that will run on the second display on a Raspberry Pi. The issue is that the second display, doesn't have a framebuffer device and so can only be used by software that interfaces with the Raspberry Pi compositor/DispmanX. This does include software that is written for ...

Re: Apps known to support dual display

There's no reason to assume Günter Kreidl's kweb/kweb3 won't work. A more interesting list would be things that DON'T work on the official display. Hmmm. I'm must be missing something obvious then. Of course --display=5 is an option for omxplayer. I can not see a similar command line option for epi...

Apps known to support dual display

The https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/the-eagerly-awaited-raspberry-pi-display/ announcement makes it clear that only certain apps will be able to take advantage of the HDMI dual display. It goes on to give an example which works great: omxplayer --display=5 video.mkv Is there a list of other apps th...

Re: RPi as Church Presentation Tool

Here's an update on using Raspbian Jessie distro running OpenLP 2.0.4 on a Raspberry Pi 2 Model B... On Saturday we ran a one day worship conference (i.e. the seminars were about the biblical, spiritual and practical aspects of a creative response to God's goodness) in one of our medium sized meetin...

Re: RPi as Church Presentation Tool

The Raspbian Jessie distro published at the end of September should mean that a more recent version of OpenLP can be easily installed. https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/raspbi ... e-is-here/

I have a similar requirement to yours, so will give it a go and report back.
