Re: Meet Raspberry Pi Zero: the $5 computer

I am not certain if I should laugh or cry. Voicing a legit and well justified concern gets tons of childish flaming and personal attacks, not only from illiterate people and/or people how are incapable of understanding what they read, but also from moderators and foundation members. Quite pathetic. ...

Re: Meet Raspberry Pi Zero: the $5 computer

The price is not issue for me, only the misleading marketing. I have purchased the Zero and it is on it's way. I would have purchased one even if it would cost 10£+p&p. It is just stupid and disrespectful to one's clients to advertise something below the actual price it can be purchased if there is ...

Re: Meet Raspberry Pi Zero: the $5 computer

This is not really a 5$ computer. 4£ is way more that 5$! Sad thing is that the new Zero would have been as appealing and awesome when marketed at 4£ or better yet "Under 5£ computer.", there is absolutely no need for the "marketing crap" with 5$ when you can't really buy it for that price. How do y...

Re: Sleep Mode - and or turn off backlight?

The Foundation have learned not to pre-announce software or hardware (after making a dreadful foul up with the official screen announcement almost two years before it was available). Assuming it's even technically possible with the official screen hardware you won't be told until it's available. Yo...

Re: Sleep Mode - and or turn off backlight?

You must have missed this one, it's about a dozen posts up. Unfortunately we can only support on/off switching of the backlight on the DSI display. Variable brightness control won't be possible. No I have not. Still missing the reason why not... If it is EMI, then there might be a hack or work aroun...

Re: Sleep Mode - and or turn off backlight?

Please clarify. Is backlight adjustment possible in future or not? If not, why not? In the future, probably. GPU support is needed, which only the Foundation can do since they access, so you'll just have to wait. Thank you for you reply, but I was hopping some one from the foundation or some one wi...

Re: Rotate display 90º?

thanks for the info. I noticed that if i include the two dashes when i do the command manually it does not work. The commands only seem to work if i omit those. any reason that would be the case? This is weird. I am not a Linux guru so take my writings with grain of salt. What I understand is if yo...

Re: Rotate display 90º?

Forgive my ignorance here, I have just been following the directions provided here and dont really understand what all of it is doing or why it does it, so I am going to ask. What do the two hyphens or minus signs before the set-prop part of the command? DISPLAY=:0 xinput -- set-prop 'FT5406 memory...

Re: Rotate display 90º?

I am sorry I forgot to mention that I am using Raspberry Pi 2 B and the official 7" touch screen. Also the OS (rasbian) and FW where up to date at the time of writing the post. I don't really know how to debug the desktop environment or the autostart script. There is probably some log file somewhere...

Re: Rotate display 90º?

Hello. I got it working by using script and running it from "/etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart". Add @/your/script.sh to /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart Script that I use: #!/bin/bash #script to set correct touchscreen orientation after x start #this won't rotate the displayed image, only th...
