Re: RPi private IP address has changed to public-what to do

Thanks for the quick response. I didn't know about link local IP addresses so I can be relieved that I'm not being hacked! None of my other RPi's have had this happen - up 'til now. Why is it that only one of my RPi's has been allocated this special address? What sort of events cause this? Is it pos...

RPi private IP address has changed to public-what to do?

Not at all sure what's happened. Was using a Pi3 to make a robot and it was behaving normally with me using ssh from another RPi to control it. It had a standard 192.168.1.* IP address until, today when I found myself unable to ssh to it. I attached it to a monitor and discovered its IP address had ...

Re: PiZero: Camera not working and CPU is working way too hi

Thanks - the advice on connecting the camera cable is greatly appreciated. I just hope I haven't broken the camera or cable. As to the high CPU usage again thanks I hadn't realised that. I think I was desperately looking for any old explanation for the camera problem. I'll change the cable and see i...

PiZero: Camera not working and CPU is working way too high!

I have been using a PiZero plus camera for a couple of weeks. I found the process of attaching the camera cable to camera and to PiZero tricky. I found that the cable had to be pushed in very firmly in order for it to be recognized by the PiZero. I then attached camera plus PiZero to ViewZero and it...

Re: Pi ZERO bundle with Subscription Issue 46

My bad - red face time! Not a shipping error - an alechk error. The connector was firmly pinched close to the magazine binding.

Re: Pi ZERO bundle with Subscription Issue 46

I've just received by Magpi #46 with the included PiZero bundle (PiZero v1.3,HDMI adapter and USB adapter but no Camera Module adapter cable) - the bundle was what encouraged me to take out a subscription Have you and others received a 4th packet with your subscription containing a Camera adapter ca...

Re: Netatalk and using app - is it secure?

Thanks for your quick response. I feel more reassured after reading your post, although I still feel a bit uneasy due to comments I read online by some Microsoft network managers who seemed to be saying they would steer clear of netatalk/afp - but then I suppose they are dealing with a different env...

Netatalk and using app - is it secure?

I'm transferring jpg files from the RPi to my Mac OS X machine , installing netatalk on the RPi and using open afp <IP address of my RPi> to display and access my RPi file manager. It seems too good to be true - so I am suspecting it isn't. Am I compromising the security of my Mac?

Re: C++

@rpdom:

I did use double quotes but I think some of the errors occurred due to my copying and pasting introducing hidden characters maybe. I found a suggestion elsewhere on the internet to change void to int and it seemed to work - why I haven't a clue!

Re: C++

Final update:

I changed void main to int main and it appeared to compile, producing the Hello World message on typing ./h

Why it works now is a problem for me. If anyone can suggest a good tutorial on using C to help me make sense of all this I'd be most grateful.

Re: C++

small update:

Instead of copying and pasting the code I typed it in directly and got the following error:

Code: Select all

/usr/include/stdio.h:359:12: note: expected ‘const char * __restrict__’ but argument is of type ‘int’

Re: C++

I entered your example program using nano saving as hello.c, and then entered gcc -o h hello.c and got back the following: hello.c: In function ‘main’: hello.c:8:1: error: stray ‘\302’ in program hello.c:8:1: error: stray ‘\240’ in program I'm new to Linux and C. Re: List of recommended wireless keybd/mouse combo for RPi 2

Sorry about the delay in responding and thanks for all the suggestions. I have had it running successfully with wired keyboard and mouse but have problems with space as I'm running it in a place with limited room (small table and work surface). So yes I am merely asking for a wireless alternative. I...

List of recommended wireless keybd/mouse combo for RPi 2

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere - I have looked but not exhaustively. I wish to buy a full-size UK keyboard/mouse combo for the RPi 2. Is there a list of possible good candidates posted somewhere? Alternatively, can anyone whose found one that works. I have the official power supply, th...
