Re: trying to set up a NOOBS dual-boot on external usb drive

I actually did try messing with the cmdline.txt using the UUIDs, but I noticed they were the same.. at least the boot sections. external ssd (the clone) /dev/sda8 fat16 UUID=55ED-FC1A (boot) /dev/sda9 ext4 UUID=ae02d5b2-10f0-4b0c-b16e-7b7423d27fe1 (system) microsd card (the original) /dev/sda8 fat16...

Re: trying to set up a NOOBS dual-boot on external usb drive

From my experience, that's not needed. I missed a step in my post, but if you read the beginning of the thread, you'll see I put a text file on the desktop of Raspbian while running from the sd card, and I verify it's not on the desktop after booting from the external drive. The method for LibreELEC...

Re: trying to set up a NOOBS dual-boot on external usb drive

I finally figured this out... (1) Flash the sd card with NOOBS and install both Raspbian and LibreELEC. (2) Make an image of the sd card and save it. (3) Open the 'boot' partition, and edit the cmdline.txt. Change 'root=/dev/mmcblk0p7' to 'root=/dev/sda7' (or whatever your external drive's /dev/sd(x...

Re: Converting Squashfs For Berryboot Question

I wound up adding it to NOOBS. I used the steps for mounting the image, mounting each partition individually, then opening /mnt and compressing the contents of each into both system.tar.xz and storage.tar.xz. I then downloaded an OpenELEC image for NOOBS, replacing the OE files with my LE files, and...

Re: Converting Squashfs For Berryboot Question

I know this is an old post, but it's still relevant. The suggestion of a typo in the string is incorrect, as it's not a syntax error being observed.. as in the post linked in the suggestion. The problem is because there is no /etc/fstab in /mnt after mounting /dev/mapper/loop0p2. Open your /mnt dire...

Re: trying to set up a NOOBS dual-boot on external usb drive

Screw it. I wound up using an older version of berryboot, specifically for rpi2. My hifiberry works now... it wouldn't with the newest version of berryboot.

Re: trying to set up a NOOBS dual-boot on external usb drive

Hmm.. just found a thread at openelec showing a 'disk=/dev/...' addition to the string in cmdline.txt...

Code: Select all

boot=/dev/mmcblk0p1 disk=/dev/sda1 ssh quiet
I shall try that as well.

Re: trying to set up a NOOBS dual-boot on external usb drive

Well.. it would probably have helped if I had booted into LibreELEC on the micro sd card before copying to entire card to the external ssd. I was hoping it would've done the setup on the ssd, then expand itself to the rest of the disk.. that was the plan anyway. In the end, it did the setup on the m...

trying to set up a NOOBS dual-boot on external usb drive

As the title suggests, I'm attempting a NOOBS dual-boot setup, running off an external drive. 1st OS: Raspbian 2nd OS: LibreELEC Procedure: 1) Create NOOBS card as normal, selecting Raspbian and LibreELEC, using a 32GB card and letting NOOBS automatically split the card between the 2 OS'es. 2) I the...

Re: Kodi on Ubuntu MATE 15.10

If you choose to distribute XBMC Foundation binaries yourself, you should make the latest stable version available (of course, you probably want to do so as well). If you compile XBMC Foundation unmodified source code ( including code and config files in the installer ) and do not charge for it, yo...

Re: Kodi on Ubuntu MATE 15.10

@greenbag: The 15.2 package for raspbian I built was based on the rpi-backports by popcornmix and he was well aware of it, because we exchanged a number of emails as I had discovered a bug and found a solution which he added to his repository (the ffmpeg patches were not added). And what about the ...

Re: Kodi on Ubuntu MATE 15.10

Except you're going against the "official" kodi/xbmc guidlines on releasing their stuff. It clearly says in their guide what the config should be. Original official: CONFIG_EXTRA="--with-platform=raspberry-pi2 --enable-libcec --enable-player=omxplayer --disable-x11 --disable-xrandr --disable-openmax...

btw... that licensing agreement on the Kodi wiki, only allows releasing unmodified "binaries". That means the kodi.bin... not everything else in a debian package.

Hmm. So, if I remove the guide, and build Kodi using the official guide, will we be OK? Thank you for clearing up some of the copyright stuff. You want to distribute "official" precompiled binaries? Then use the "official" README.raspberrypi that comes with the source. Take note of what's enabled, and what's disabled. Otherwise, anything else in "unofficial". ~/kodi/docs/README.raspberrypi TOC 1. Introduction 2. Building Kodi for the Raspb...

You need to learn about opensource. It's legal to redistribute as source code, but not a full blown compiled package without the coder's permission. It's immoral, wrong, and even illegal in some cases. f'n cs. Genuine question, cos I'm interested (not being facetious), but can you reference where t...

I never said illegal codecs. But if you look in the source, there's stuff called nonfree which is enabled. OpenELEC does not enable this.. they actually disable this.

Btw.. not to keep harping on this, but there's one other point to make about releasing things without knowing what you're doing. And it's an important one. It's called licensing agreements within the various source files that are not actually written by team kodi themselves. Specifically.. codecs. I...

It did. The error was the Jarvis was not a valid version name. Kratos lol... it said "16.9.701" is not a valid version.. so you rename it 17.0.000. edit: If it was Jarvis, then it would have complained about "16.1.000", so you change it to 16.1.001, or whatever you prefer. edit #2: I can't find a l...
