Re: Raspberry Server 2: 281MB Server Foundation.

Thanks for the feedback. I will build a 2GB SD Card Image and then put it up for download.

Like I said, the reason I had a 8GB image is because most cards are commonly 8GB+ over here. I've located a 2GB SD, so I'll migrate the configuration to that and go from there.

Raspberry Server 2: 281MB Server Foundation.

Raspberry Server 2 A supercharged foundation for turning your Raspberry Pi into a portable server. 281MB Compressed, ~700MB when installed to SD Card. If you remember Raspberry Server: Web Edition, my older project, I hadn't updated that in a long time. However, I'm back and I have this distro to t...

Re: Software Monitoring of Supply Voltage and CPU Temperatur

If you're looking to check the input voltage of the R-Pi and get a reading like 4.8V or 5.2V, you'll need to make your own solution. the only voltage readings built-in are CPU and RAM. Those are 1.2V, so they won't help you much.

apt-get install screen irssi run 'screen -S IRC irssi' ....connect to irc network, etc... CTRL+A, D to detach Close SSH Window (or PuTTY).... When you want to get back to your IRC client, just ssh into the Pi and do 'screen -r IRC' and there's your IRC client. irssi is the best of the bunch. flexibl...

(DVB-T ) TV Streaming Server

Greetings, I'm trying to downsize a working setup that I manage to pull off using two computers. What I want to do is to offload the tasks of one computer to a R-Pi and stream TV (using a USB DVB-T adapter) to the other computer via the R-Pi. For sanity's sake, let's say this: PC #1: Loungeroom Work...

Re: [Distro] Raspberry Server: Web Edition

v1.1 "Gold" is the current version. I have been busy and I've also got my hands on the latest 512MB R-Pi, so I'm going to start building v1.2 "Tundra" very shortly.

I'm sure that's a really noobish questions. But I spend some hours now on the internet and didn't find a solution, at least in my eyes. I'm running wordpress on your distro. It is located in www/wordpress/..., so if I want to access the wordpress side I have to add /wordpress/ to my url. How can I ...

Re: [Distro] Raspberry Server: Web Edition

The system seems to work real good. The one problem I have so far is that phpMyAdmin only allows import of .sql files over 2MB. Apparently this is due to a setting in php.ini, but which php.ini? I found three :? Use the one located in /etc/php5/fpm/php.ini . Unlike normal PHP FastCGI that lighty do...

Raspberry Server: Web Edition preloaded SD Cards now in stock - 8GB "LowFat" flavor at this moment in time. Price reduced too. Now, to answer questions: Is it not an idea to install also Ramlog on it? So that the SD card life is longer? Logs are already mounted to a tmpfs and they are nuked on shutd...

Raspberry Server: Web Edition, v1.1 GOLD Image released. This is the real deal. :o Remember, replace the start.elf with one suited for your R-Pi. See the folders "for_256MB_pi" or "for_512MB_pi". By default, it is configured for Raspberry Pis with 256MB RAM. You can use Win32 Disk Imager to write t...

Before people start buying a Raspberry Pi with the intention of using it am a LAMP server , I'd encourage them to check out a bit of the "competition". Specifically, the MK802. Please note, I am not saying that the MK802 is better than the Raspberry Pi . But for the purpose of a cheap home LAMP ser...

Re: [Distro] Raspberry Server: Web Edition

The filesize issue has been fixed. The boss that I'm contracted to said that if you use Windows to compress the image file, then Windows treats the file as a sparse file and screws things up. So, he suggested that I make the archive in Linux. And so, I've managed to 7Zip the archive, which holds a 2...

Re: [Distro] Raspberry Server: Web Edition

OK... Why the heck is it still spitting out absurd file sizes when compressing it? The RC1 release was almost 870MB via XZ (a newish LZMA2-compression), while this one, when compressed via WinRAR, is 906MB. I'm trying with a 7zip archive on Ultra compression. The root file system only has around 900...

RC2 has been built and I'm pleased to say that there's no errors on boot. Hopefully it will be smaller than...

Re: [Distro] Raspberry Server: Web Edition

Good to hear that people are getting a mixed bag of results. Also, sorry for forgetting to mention, the mysql root access is 'root' / 'RaspberryPi' Also, with the mysql issue at boot, there's a bug in the init script. It fails to remove the socket file. So, to fix it, you just do rm /var/run/mysql/*...

Re: [Distro] Raspberry Server: Web Edition

Does it use the latest kernel (i.e. memory splits controlled from config.txt)? You'd only need one image, as you specify 16MB of GPU memory and the rest (224MB or 496MB) is assigned to the ARM. Also, have you thought of including raspcontrol? I expect some people would find it useful for remote man...
