Re: Raspberry Pi compatible webcam...

Hi, I had similar problems with a Logitech webcam. The only solution that worked for me (ie giving hi res images) was to use Python's pygames camera module. Take a look at http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=39470&p=337333&hilit=Webcam#p337333 It's very easy to write your own soft...

Re: Raspberry Pi compatible webcam...

Here's an update on the above: I've been trying out the pygames camera module and its proving far better than any of the other approaches I tried (eg motion, streamer). I can now consistently get 640x480 from my Logitech C270 (can also get higher but this is what I want for my time lapse stuff). Lea...

Try this, it will display all sizes upto 960 x 720 and save them as jpegs Gordon77 A belated thanks for this! I got the python script to run (I'm new to this) after weeding out some whitespace that python didn't like - not sure why. Well, it took 4 snapshots and partly rendered them on the screen (...

Re: Raspberry Pi compatible webcam...

I'm using a Logitech C270, for stills only though not video , and with the new kernel with the USB improvements I can get 960 x 720 stills :) They are only approx £17 :) Gordon77 Hi - I am also using a Logitech C270 - but can't get consistent still performance. For example, using motion or streamer...

Both work fine

Thanks for posting martin_xs6. I have been trying to set up udev rules on and off for quite a while, without any success! I tried following your recipe. For my rule I have: ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="0fce", ATTRS{idProduct}=="712e", RUN+="/home/pi/start_usb_network" where I g...

Re: SSH into RaspberryPi using Android's USB Thethering

Does anyone know how to force a fixed ip from the android dhcp server? If you are using Gingerbread, it looks like you can't. The range is hard coded and it doesn't look like there's an option in the code to cater for reservations based on MAC addresses. Yes I am on gingerbread. So does that mean I...

the phone acts as a dhcp server and will give you an ip without being connected to the internet. Let me know if it was that simple to solve..

How to get static IP address?

I'm working on headless RPi via USB tethering, as in http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=24348&p=248901#p248901 This method always seems to give a fixed IP address for the Pi, but from what I've read you can't rely on that. So how do I fix the address? I thought it was via /etc/ne...

Re: udevadm info causing kernel panic

Me too. I'm using this article; http://www.weather-watch.com/smf/index.php?topic=39257.0 to work out udev rules for my USB-attached android. The suggested script uses udevadm info -a -p $DEVICE. udevadm starts but then there's a message 'Entering kbd ... Due to oops @some_address' then the Pi hangs....

Re: SSH into RaspberryPi using Android's USB Thethering

Why don't you use /etc/network/interfaces config instead of a"while true sleep 1" script that will use unnecessary CPU cycles? If you want to be noticed of some USB plugged device, you can have udev run a script for you too. Use them directly :) Thanks, that sounds simpler, I'm all for that. I'm se...

Re: SSH into RaspberryPi using Android's USB Thethering

Hi, I have finally got round to trying this.
I ran sudo dhcpcd usb0, OK.
Then I tried to run androidvnc from my phone (which was connected via USB to the Rpi).
I used the default port number of 5900.
But I got "connection refused"

Can anyone suggest how to find out what is going wrong?
