Re: Panel Widget Source Code

Thanks for the pointing in the right direction. I did update my sources list file, and then pulled the source with the apt source command, only to have this as the output. It seems that I didn't quite get everything, because I don't see the paths that the patch files are using. But that could be bec...

Panel Widget Source Code

Where is the source code for panel widgets installed by default within Raspbian Buster? CPU Temperature Monitor CPU Usage Monitor I want to add a third one Memory Monitor , that would use the same source code base as these two to ensure a high code quality. But I can't seem to find the source code f...

Re: Heat Sinks

I just slipped my Raspberry Pi 4B 4GB into the FLIRC case and it's brilliant. It's somewhere in line of a 20-30c drop in temperatures. They also appear to be using the 3M Thermal transfer materal as it's a the blue tape that wh7qq described.

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 USB Power Issues? RTL-SDRs

I just did a firmware upgrade on my rPi4/4GB and now rtl_test works flawlessly. Excellent job! Wow, I can even capture at 3.2Msps with GQRX and the 8192 @ 30fps waterfall. Doesn't get too hot while doing that too in an open case with an ambient temperature of 17C. CPU load is up at 70% but the syste...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 USB Power Issues? RTL-SDRs

I have no idea why, at this point, but the Terratec T Stick PLUS Elonics E4000 tuner seems to work every time I've tested it. Rafael Micro R820T2 has issues, which must still be Pi4 related because it works fine on my Pi3 and PC. It's super odd that the E4000 would work fine every time. What about ...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 USB Power Issues? RTL-SDRs

I will try my USRP at some point to see if it works, but I'm not very hopeful. Hopefully this can be fixed soon. Good point. I have a HackRF laying around. So I used that and it works just fine. AND IT'S FREAKING FAST! Well ... The first time it was. Haven't been able to get it to work a next time.

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 USB Power Issues? RTL-SDRs

I noticed this too while trying to get GQRX up and running. I was gonna try my Elonics 4000 and no USB extension today, but I guess you've ruled that out. I have a Pi 4 with 4GB RAM and the R820T2 tuner plugged into USB3 port. Keyboard and mouse were the only other things plugged in. I'm using the ...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 USB Power Issues? RTL-SDRs

That rules out the rPi4B as a software defined radio then, at least until the software is fixed. I'm using it to capture emergency traffic for most of the ambulance corps in the county that I live and giving them access to the audio feed to better respond to emergency assignments. Good thing the rPi...

Raspberry Pi 4 USB Power Issues? RTL-SDRs

When trying to use an RTL SDR I'm getting the following error rtlsdr_write_reg failed with -7 . -7 according to it’s value within libusb_error enum is LIBUSB_ERROR_TIMEOUT. I’ve been told that -6 (LIBUSB_ERROR_BUSY) is due to a lack of power on the USB Bus, perhaps that’s the same problem here? But ...

Re: raspberry pi 4 h.265 hardware accelerate encode

Does it still require a license key? YouTube video encoding seems to be slow, and I'm wondering if it's because I'm not actually using the Hardware Decoder?

Re: Internet Experience on the Raspberry Pi 4

I'm using a 2GB version and it's VASTLY improved over the 3B+. I think the RAM speed coupled with the doubling of RAM made a massive different over and above the CPU alone.

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 Heatsink vs Fan vs Flirc Case

It's a fair point to say surface area is more important than mass. My use case is that I use them as software defined radios, so it's a constant stream of numbers to crunch 24/7/365. I've actually had a Pi in operation for the past year doing exactly that in the Flirc case inside of an ambulance gar...

Confirmed doesn't work with a Apple 87W USB-C Charger. But I did have a old iPad power brick laying around and a USB-Type A to USB Type-C connector on it and that works a treat!

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 Heatsink vs Fan vs Flirc Case

Just got the 2GB version of the rPi4 and the chip itself runs very warm to the touch. Like it's uncomfortable to put your finger on it. I don't remember the rPi3+ being this uncomfortable. With that said I'm actually pretty worried about the Flirc Case. I pre-ordered the new case for the rPi4 and I'...

Re: Moving Linux kernel to 4.19

Thanks mainly to Marek Wyborski (Robotrovsky) who wrote the bulk of the code and Sean O'Brien of Google's Chrome OS team for pushing it into the Linux Kernel HID driver, there is now Apple Magic Trackpad 2 in tree support. While the pressure support was removed it still does things like two finger s...

Using the SenseHAT with the 7" Screen

I'd like to use the SenseHAT and the 7" Screen at the same time on the same device. When attempting to do that via installing the SenseHAT on the Pi, it blocks the 2 GPIO pins needed to send power. I figured I'd just be able to power the Pi and the Screen with two different power bricks. That only r...
