I have a Brother DCP-9020CDW colour laser I have installed 'cups' and it found and added the printer and It prints ok but only black and white any lpoptions -l shows grey ?

Hi Dirks

Tried that no luck so will load Raspian from here and try it I have tried just the config before but ended up using Waveshare image could you kindly tell me what I need to change for the HDMI to on the 5" display without doinh all that then

hmm no I didn't but problem is I'm using a waveshre 5" touch screen which has the raspian drivers preloaded ? works fine with pi3 B

I have software running on lots of PI 3 model b but just bought 3 off B+ and the OS fails to load just the opening screen and no green led accessing the Scandisk ? odd

I have two pi's when I try to connect to an ftp server using identical user and password one fails and says logging incorrect bind address in use then other works fine

Hi Dougie , No I don't its perfect with Real Vnc my problem is it's limited to 5 pi's if you want more you have to subscribe £31 for each additional unit

I have an X11 application running quite happily when I use tightvnc remote access the app becomes slow and unreliable is there a conflict with display ?

What program? What OS and version? That's a good idea using cron yes I have been experimenting and it works
do you know a way a to monitor a system command I transfer these hourly file using FTP but very occasionally it will hang doing transfer and then of cure the programme hangs cron too ?

I use the system command to connect to an FTP server every hour at odd times it will hang and report 'connected' which holds the programme up is there a way to monitor the system command / connection to check it ? or a watchdog perhaps ?

I have a long C programme which collects rail real time data and stores it in /media/pi/logger/Feb28 example which then has 24 hurly files when day is closed how can I apply your instruction to that to that I fever possible so in other words Feb14 13 12 13 ands would clear ...

delete a months file

I need a rolling way to delete the previous month data files I write an hourly file so 24 files on each day and each month etc .. I want to delete the previous but one month's data I have done it but I seems very crude.. I'm sure some people on could find a very clever way !!??

I have got a new PI with new GUI on old pi I had an application that needed to start up auto so
edit /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE/autostart added a line ./alphaX11 ( the app) all works fine

done the same with new PI and nothing happens tried LXDE and LXDE-pi ???
