Re: How do I disable Wifi sleep on RPI3

Holly shit, I am getting stupider as I age!
Its a raspbery pi 2 B+
I have a a 2B+ and two 3B's and I get them mixed up. I have now put a label on each case so as to not mix them up.
Maybe there is a different method for each. idk.

Re: How do I disable Wifi sleep on RPI3

I did as you said.
Even now, when I do iwconfig, it shows; "Power Management:on" foe wlan0 !
I don't know what you mean when you say is off by default. It is not.
My SD card is an image of untouched Raspbian.

How do I disable Wifi sleep on RPI3

Is there a gui way to turn off wifi power management? To my surprise, rpi-config doesn't have this! Why not? I don't know. Searched synaptic for an app, nada. So, no one wrote a small gui program to turn on/off the wifi power management? Do I have to resort to typing DOS commands? If so, what are th...

RPI3 and Open Logic Sniffer?

Hi all,
I have a spare RPI3 and an Open Logic Sniffer (OLS) https://www.sparkfun.com/products/retired/9857
I would like to know if there is a way to have the RPI3 running latest Raspbian to run as a client?!
I don't know much about anything, but I can give it a go.
Cheers

Is it a Cat, a Dog or a Raccoon?

Hello, I was wondering if there is a way to distinguish between pets like dogs, cats, raccoons, using OpenCV or something similar? I know C, but am willing to learn something new. Can someone point me towards the right direction? Like a version of facial recognition, that identifies small animals, t...

Damn, I must be blind or something. Read that page 100 times while installing and getting the thing to work. I was messing with motion.conf !! Silly me... The documentation is written for some one who already knows the stuff. More of a reference. Thanks Bob for your help. I knew there would be an ea...

How to autostart motion detection on RPi Cam Web?

Hello world; I've got the RPi Cam Web Interface working like a charm on my RPi2. I would like to make it so that when I reboot the Pi, the RPiCamWeb should start motion detection upon restart and not wait for me to go to the page and press the "Start motion detection" button. I know I have to send C...

Re: wlan0 disappeard from RPI3!

Well, finally after 3 days, I found the problem and how to fix it. The problem was from my router side. I am running an ASUS RT N66U with Asuswrt-Merlin 380.59_0 firmware. NOT the factory firmware. I changed it a few days ago from the original firmware. I will go back to the original firmware if thi...

Hello World; I was messing with compiling opencv when for some reason the Pi crashed and the WIFI never came back! I've spent 2 days trying to figure out what is wrong. Even the images from the past that used to work, no longer do. Here is a copy of my dmesg. There is an error (@ 5.517048) but I don...

Re: How to turn off eth0 and display to save power?

I just tested the wifi after executing; sudo sh -c 'echo 0x0 > /sys/devices/platform/soc/3f980000.usb/buspower' The usb flash drive becomes inoperable, but the wifi stays alive. Since I have the / on the usb drive, it won't understand anything after that command, but the putty session stays alive in...

Re: How to turn off eth0 and display to save power?

Awesome!
btw, does the wifi and BT on the Pi3 get disabled if I turn off the usb hub?
If I get to keep the wifi, I am willing to let go of the usb ports to cut the power consumption to 200ma.
Cheers.

Wow! thanks man. Is there anything you don't know?
I wanna be just like you when I grew up...
That's a shame about having to disable the whole HUB.
I wish they would come out with a Pi3 ZERO+5GHz Wifi in addition to current Pi Zero.
Thanks again for your reply.

How to turn off eth0 and display to save power?

Hi gang,
I am trying to disable the built-in eth0, bluetooth and display chip on my RPI3 as I don't need them and they consume lots of power.
How do I do that? Wish there was a way using raspi-config.
Can some one post a step-by-step proc for noobs like myself?
Much appreciated.

Re: RPI3 WiFi stopped working!

Found the problem? Well, sort of. Used win32disk to retrieve a backup from last week. Noticed that the SD card had become defective and can only be read, not written to! I expected more from Kingston. After restoring the backup from last week, it was last week again and all was well once more. One t...
