Re: run terminal command at boot

I have been a member of this forum and have volunteered my time and efforts to help others with their problems. You have successfully helped make up my mind that this is no longer a place for me.

So long and thanks for all the fish.

Re: run terminal command at boot

My terse response was a link to a very complete and detailed guide that explained exactly how to solve the issue. Including SysV initscripts with the exact solution. I guess I could copy and paste the code, but since the OP was using Dataplicity, wouldn't a link to the instructions that Dataplicity ...

What command did you use, what flags (did you use -o) and what error did you get?

Being "picky" about things is how you solve most problems when you have things misconfigured.

Since you're using Dataplicity, try their documentation, it's going to be way more helpful. https://docs.dataplicity.com/docs/make- ... or-your-pi

Re: Any plans to lift the '1 per customer' limit on Pi Zero?

It's not really a $5 computer if you need to pay at least the same in shipping. It's an ideal product to buy in bulk. It's also not really a $5USD computer if you need to access it in any way. Add mini-HDMI to HDMI via cable or adapter if you want to see anything, plus the keyboard/mouse. Or if you...

Re: Best simple ways to check system heartbeats via network

Would nmap be of use in this instance? You could scan the subnet, find the active nodes and then portscan the active nodes and get back the banner/header/response from the daemons on the active ports. With a little more work you could probably differentiate the RasPis based on MAC and only interroga...

Re: wlan interface not up coming up on raspberry pi 3 model

Well it looks like your custom build has not fully satisfied the needs of an operating system. What did you do to create this custom build of Jessie? The error message "Fake start-stop-daemon" is basically saying that the call to start wpa-supplicant isn't working, as noted by the lack of .pid file....

Re: How do I access a usb flash drive?

What filesystem type is the flash drive formatted for? You might need to specify that with a -t option when you call mount if the OS isn't able to recognize the type by the magic number.

Re: in Linux/arm 4.4.16 kernel config

Most likely that is because that particular option already was set in oldconfig, you will only be prompted for an answer for choices that are (NEW). If you want to change that previous option, then you need to either edit the .config or run a make menuconfig and go in to change that option.

Re: in Linux/arm 4.4.16 kernel config

[N/y/?] means chose either 'n', 'y' or something else. The capitalization of the N means that if you chose no option, it will default to 'n'. (NEW) means that this is a new option that was not available with the oldconfig, [] means that there, by default, is no entry in that field. I'll assume that ...

Re: Increase dmesg font at startup

In agreement with Jamesh I don't think the Pi has the capability of changing modes for the boot? (I know if your using something like Grub2 you can run it with nomodeset to bump up the fontsize, but with the bootloader configuration of the Pi I don't know if anything like that is possible.) But post...

Re: in Linux/arm 4.4.16 kernel config

SInce you're making with oldconfig you will be prompted for anything new that was added to the kernel options since your config was last made. Unless you have reasons to specify any configs for the new options, just mash the enter key and accept the defaults for all the new options.

Re: Can't connect to rpi on home network

What kind of WiFI AP are you using at home? When you connect at home, are you still using the DDNS name and therefore public IP address? Is the home AP set up to correctly hairpin forward the requests? Can you change your setup so that you use the local private IP address at home and test to see if ...

I was talking about all of your .py scripts. I did download the install script and then pulled the tarballs from that and looked at them as well. Wouldn't install that anywhere, it's not ready for prime time. And basically it appears that you are trying to write your own DDNS ecosystem with a pay-to...

Re: SD Cards Blowing

Bringing this all back on to topic, it's not the cards that are bad. Try rewriting your .py as a shell script, when every single line of the python script is a subprocess call, you're going to crash spectacularly. (And yes, I have Jessie installed, didn't come with the Pi and didn't have to pay for ...

Re: SD Cards Blowing

Sure, what license are you releasing under? (And spring for the extra costs of rDNS, your website redirects to bare IP and that's flag #1 of "Don't install software from here." Get a certificate while you're at it, they are free now and there's no excuse to not be running one.) Edit: That IP resolve...
