Raspberry Pi 4B: Disable ALL 4k modes?

Hi, By default if you connect a Pi4 to a 4k display, the EDID handshake will pick a 4Kp30 display mode (which can be modified to 4Kp60 via a config.txt change). This makes sense as you typically want to use the 'best' display mode supported by your display. However, in certain contexts, 4k is just t...

PS, for anyone curious about this, there is a gles2test program included in SDL2 that you can use. i did that and found my issue; https://github.com/mupen64plus/mupen64p ... e/pull/670

VSync always on for Raspberry Pi 3 - any test programs to verify?

I think I’ve found a bug with SDL 2.0.8 (I will test with latest master at some point!) on Raspberry Pi (3, using standard ) where VSync is always enabled regardless of SDL_GL_SetSwapInterval calls. However, my proof is a bit convoluted, with too many moving parts. Does anyone know of a simple SDL G...

i know for the http://retropie.org.uk project this would be very popular! please post on https://retropie.org.uk/forum/category/10/ideas-and-development if you'd like some testers or input. however, to fit nicely into that it would be ideal if it could launched straight into games via the command li...

Re: MAME Arcade: PC vs Raspberry Pi2

with a rpi2 and the right mame/fba emulator, you can run most 2d arcade games at full speed. there are notable exceptions... mortal kombat series have issue (mk1 should be ok), anything with sprite scaling (afterburner, etc) can struggle. forget any 3d arcade games. forget about dreamcast some n64 g...

arcade games (MAME/FBA) often have optional 'cocktail' modes which rotate the game for each player. other than that, no.

Re: Is there any input lag on the Pi 3 when using Emulation?

If using an emulator running on bare metal (no OS at all), and taking advantage of all 4 cores, and having a good USB stack, then there should be no problem at all up to the likes of a PlayStation 2 or equivalent. The general rule is that you can emulate any system that has less than 1/16th process...

Re: Pi 3 & Retropie vs Ouya for Emulation. Honest Opinions?

the thing with using youtube videos and compatibility lists to judge the pi3's n64 videos is: 1) who knows what setup they're using (overclock, etc) 2) pi n64 development is in huge flux right now. literally by the day things change. i would tell anyone who's interested in setting it up to wait for ...

Re: Saving on RetroPie psx

saving works fine. lr-pcsx_rearmed is configured so it always assumes there is a memory card in slot 1. there must be something weird with your setup. do you have write-permssions in the ../roms/psx/ directory?

it's the default emulator for n64 in current versions of retropie i believe. what makes you think you're not running it?

ps, this would probably be better in the retropie forums :)

that's because the emulationstation scraper isn't very clever. the command line does it by hashes and should always get the right game.

Re: GAMES LIST: Games That Work On The Pi

Is there any point to using MEDNAFEN instead of RetroPie? Like does it give better performance and/or more games or something? mednafen what? mednafen is a suite of emulators, some of which will not work well at all (psx), others that will be fine. you can run some mednafen emulators in retropie bu...

Re: What SoC for RetroPi?

mario kart 64 is ok on the 3 with retropie + mupen64-gles2n64. playable at 1080p in 4 player but has some lag. probably works better in lower resolutions as i believe the GPU is the limit.

Re: Fully metal heatpipe case?

my goal is good heat dispersal with no fan :) if I use a fan then all manner of vented cases + heatsink would be far better.

I just don't like that case design. seems upside down and inefficient. that said, not much competition at the moment...

Re: Fully metal heatpipe case?

i mean the ram chip on the rear is unsinked - i've reworded my post to make sense :) that case has the board upside down, resting on the aluminium block via the regular board mounts. i don't see it sitting exactly flush on the chip, but maybe. plus a large part of the aluminium's surface area is wha...

Fully metal heatpipe case?

when the first micro atx boards came out, i remember a lot of people making 'fanless' setups, which used heatpipes to take heat from the CPU/CPU/etc, and radiate it out of aluminium cases. a bit of an excessive example, but: http://www.hd-plex.com/images/product/H1/H1.3.JPG i believe this is also ho...
