I eventually got this issue resolved...
It was built at work, and because of that I was going through a proxy...
I of course was at home....
Once I removed that proxy, everything updated fine....

I realize that I didn't give you all the information....
jsynctime alias that I created contains the following: 'hwclock --systohc'

Hello! Finally getting back to this issue... Moving across country, issues with mover, Getting internet, etc....

I can ping successfully with: ping -c3 192.168.12.1

I can also: ping -c3 8.8.8.8

Gateway and internet is still 1.5 months out from this location (partway through move)... I was posting that when I did have the Pi on the gateway and internet at the old house, I still did not get an update... didn't connect.. Which is same results that I get here.. with no gateway or internet... I...

As you can see, I typed it in instead of copy and pasting...
I'm using putty to connect to Pi... How do I cut and paste between these two different windows?

did a route -n and I get the following: Kernel IP routing table Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface 0.0.0.0 192.168.12.1 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth0 192.168.12.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth0 I tried a su and root as password, and that failed.
