Re: Ubuntu image for the new Raspberry Pi 3 B+

I've been using Ubuntu Mate daily now and everything still seems to be working great. I bought a portable HDD and I have usb boot working too now. First I cloned my SD card to my new HDD using Gparted. Then I did this: Edit these files as Root to Enable USB Boot: From text editor change the /PI_BOOT...

Re: STICKY: GAMES LIST: Games That Work On The Pi

Try installing Xmahjongg

sudo apt-get install xmahjongg

Are you remembering to type the second G?

Try it both ways, once with one G and once with two G's

Re: Ubuntu image for the new Raspberry Pi 3 B+

I can't help with USB boot, i've been running solely from SD card and haven't even tried the new USB boot feature yet. Eventually I'll hook a 2.5 inch hdd up and try it out. Just haven't gotten to it yet. Have you tried posting in the raspberry pi section of the ubuntu mate forums? : https://ubuntu-...

Re: Ubuntu image for the new Raspberry Pi 3 B+

Alright guys , I now have the onboard dual-band Wifi working as well :D Once again I mounted the latest Raspbian .img(2018-03-13-raspbian-stretch-lite.img) I then extracted these files from /lib/firmware/brcm brcmfmac43455-sdio.txt , brcmfmac43455-sdio.clm_blob , and brcmfmac43455-sdio.bin Move them...

Re: Ubuntu image for the new Raspberry Pi 3 B+

Yeah i did that - took about an hour - seems to have broken firefox - just insta-crashes when I run it, did try remove and reinstalling it that hasn't helped, was working before the dist-upgrade, never mind can fix that one later Firefox is currently broken at the moment, you'll have to uninstall F...

Re: Would a Raspberry Pi 3 B case be compatible with the Model B+

I have this case and can confirm that it fits perfectly. I have my Raspberry Pi 3 B+ inside of it as I type. http://www.dx.com/p/abs-enclosure-case-for-raspberry-pi-3b-2b-b-with-fan-hole-blue-445111 Comes in Blue, Black, Red, or Clear and has a spot for a fan. There are various other websites around...

Re: Micro USB for powering PI is no longer OK

I see absolutely no reason to move away from micro-usb at this point. I have a 5v 3amp supply and a 5.25v 2.4amp supply and they're both more than enough to power a Raspberry Pi 3 B+. If they do decide to upgrade the connector on say the Raspberry Pi 4 then wouldn't a Usb Type-C connector make more ...

Awesome, thanks for the heads up. I'll see if I can get the onboard wifi working too. I'm sure it'll be alot faster than this usb dongle.

Re: Ubuntu image for the new Raspberry Pi 3 B+

I finally have success! Ubuntu Mate 16.04 is now booting and everything seems to be working as it should. The only thing that isn't working atm is the built-in wifi. I plugged in a nano usb wifi adapter and problem solved :D I downloaded the latest version of Raspbian and mounted the .img file, then...

Re: Ubuntu image for the new Raspberry Pi 3 B+

Keep us updated. I was really hoping I could just swap my SD card from my RPI 3 to my RPI 3 B+, but that is apparently not the case. I wasn't that impressed with Raspbian last time I tried it, but perhaps I'll give it another look while I'm waiting.

Re: Regarding LibreElec / Spyware

I was wondering the exact same thing, and after reading the entire thread, I still see no good reason to switch. OpenELEC is working great for me and i've not seen any of these supposed Ads. If they can't publicly give a reason for the fork, then I see no reason for me to support the fork or move ov...

Re: pi-top pi laptop now in stores

Anyone know where to buy just the screen? The 10.1 inch screen is a bit small for my taste and they're still asking $144 for it on adafruit. I've done some looking around and the options seem to be very limited for larger screens.

Mupen64 on Ubuntu Mate?

I have Ubuntu Mate 16.04 running on my new RPI3 and was wondering if anyone has gotten mupen64plus running on it.

The Raspbian install instructions didn't seem to work.

Re: pi-top pi laptop now in stores

They are using a 13.3" screen which is probably $200 all on its own. I agree it's not worth it and your better off making your own, not to mention its a lot more fun.

I don't really understand why the displays are still so expensive, even my 40 inch led Television only costed $250.

Re: How to Add Menu Entries?

Hmm, sounds to me like they need a new UI designer. Rather than trying to fix this, I suppose i'll just switch to icewm. I like icewm better anyway.

Thanks

Re: How to Add Menu Entries?

I don't think you understand what I'm trying to say. I tried reformatting my SD card and adding a fresh Raspbian image and there are several important programs missing from my menu. Dillo and Netsurf come with Raspbian by default and their .desktop files are located in /usr/share/applications but th...

How to Add Menu Entries?

I'm trying to add menu entries for applications that don't have them. Dillo and Netsurf already have .desktop entries but they aren't showing up in the menu? I tried comparing ones that work with the ones that don't and I see no differences.

What is it that makes some show up and others not?

Manaplus client not found

I'm trying to install the client for The Mana World in Raspbian on my raspberry pi 2. First I tried installing using "sudo apt-get install tmw" but that client is outdated and no longer works. The current client is manaplus located here: http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/raspbian/pool/main/m/manapl...
