I use node-red (already installed with Raspian Jessie). Built-in is a node for sending SMS! Works for me.

To keep it simple, connect a relay contact across the push button contacts. Then rectify AC line voltage and feed the relay coil through a very large capacitor which will close the relay until the capacitor charges up. Play with the values until you get what you need.
