Re: Using RPI with camera below 0 Celsius?

I have a 2B (a21041) 24/7 with pi camera running for several years -- 44.5 N, USA. Mounted on an inside wall of a open wood shed. . It is -13C right now. Typically, lower than -6c until late February. Never had a temperature related problem.

Re: New Pi 3 B+ but what about MAKING MORE ZERO W's????

oops, except at: adafruit.com, pishop.us, canakit.com or microcenter (pick up only).. that's the all the U.S resellers. ShiftPlusOne didn't say anything about BULK.. There's no 1 limit per customer any more, it's just 1 at the low price. Posted an email to info@raspberrypi.org asking for the price/...

Re: New Raspberry Pi model 3B+ 1.4 GHz, 330Mbit Ethernet, 802.11ac, PoE

Does anyone know if there is US stock anywhere right now? I got an order into Newark, but it looks like they have no stock. Maybe I missed the rush.. Regards, -Moses Have you checked the UK sources? Shipping isn't any more expensive (and may be less) and the transit time is about the same. Ordered ...

Re: What was your first computer?

The first I owned was a KIM-1 .. used the Kansas city standard - (tape format) over acoustical modems .. <150 baud I think.. Still have it along with a KIM-SI S100 bus memory card.. much later... I was able to get a IBM5100... used BASIC and APL.. even dropped into the 360 mode and ran 360 asm code....

I use NFS as a "MASTER" and access across multiple rPi's - However, I may be using links incorrectly.. .. in a development directory: ln -s $PWD/dosomething.v01.py dosomething.py sudo ln -s $PWD/dosomething.py /usr/local/bin/dosomething.py When I change to a new version of code, I just relink it ...

Re: I hadn't thought about ln -s for this..

Maybe I'll should spend a little time looking at busybox source..

and I use ln -s in this case as it is uses across file systems, and mostly so I don't rm the original.
by mistake.

.thanks for the comments .. still learning..

I hadn't thought about ln -s for this..

This may be common, just hadn't thought of it before. I had two programs "getData.py" and "putData.py" that were the same, except the source/destination are reversed - the working source/destination directory are similar and use os.getcwd().split to get the parts I needed . I started to use command ...

Re: Raspbian Stretch Headless Setup Procedure

It looks like wpa_supplicant doesn't start on first boot for some people and it would be nice to see some logs which might explain what the issue is. Have P3 with cable works fine.. remove cable, reboot.. does not connect. I'm using 'lite .. what logs would help? I got it working by adding network=...

logger .. overwrite on power failure

I'm using Python 2.7 logger. Logging, works as expected while application is running, terminates or killed, the log is appended and rotated as defined. If the system power is lost, when the application is started, the log is re-created, not appended. (based on code from https://gist.github.com/st4lk...

Re: Resize image for use on a smaller sd card

I've been using ShorTie8's script for a while. https://github.com/ShorTie8/mini_image I have an usb drive attached to my pi on a hub. Mount the drive to /media, switch to /media and run the script from there. Copy the image to a linux machine and just dd to a blank sdcard to a smaller / larger card ...

mqtt/paho/mosquitto

There should be a TOPIC (no pun intended) for MQTT/paho/mosquitto! One of my rPi's is (mqtt) BROKER. (manages latwills etc). One of my rPi's (vacation) sets up a schedule for my TV's when I'm away. "vacation" uses cron to schedule to turn on / off a TV (cec-client) . I want to publish a topic for on...
