Re: Python libraries for LCD

Thank you, I managed to get it working. The CPU usage with Adafruit code is the same or even higher than with RPLCD but the problem with getting slow on song change almost dissapeared so I'll stick with Adafruit library for now.

Re: Python libraries for LCD

https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_Python_CharLCD I'm having problems installing it (No module smbus). But, this library from Adafruit uses RPi.GPIO for writing to display? In the meantime, I found this code: http://www.raspberrypi-spy.co.uk/2012/08/20x4-lcd-module-control-using-python/ and tried...

Python libraries for LCD

I'm currently using RPLCD which seems to be pretty slow. Also, I've read somewhere that it uses /sys/gpio, which could be the reason to my problems. So, I have a script which gets info from MPD player and shows it on the LCD, with scrolling for texts longer than 16 charachters. Everything works fine...

Re: Pi4j alternative

Sorry about that, I'm the first one who hates when somebody finds solution and then forgets to write the solution itself, and now I did this myself  I can't perform tests since I don't use this currently and I have another distro running on my Pi (RuneAudio). But I can describe my situation...

Re: Raspberry Pi 2 / OSMC & Volumio

This with HDD would work but it's not a good solution to have multiple R-Pi devices for something which could fit on a single Pi. I would like to integrate all this into a casing which will be connected to TV and Hi-Fi all the time and use music or kodi, but also I'd like to be able to take that dev...

Re: Raspberry Pi 2 / OSMC & Volumio

Hello, sorry for stealling topic, but I have a similar problem. So, I'm currently using OSMC on my new RPI2 and RuneAudio (similar as Volumio) on my old RPI. But using two PIs is a bad solution. First, it's completely unnecessary. Second, I have only one external HDD and can't use it on both PIs at ...

Pi4j alternative

Is there any alternative to Pi4j since this one is a total crap? First, it won't even work if I have LIRC started. Since my project will use IR remote and LCD + buttons and LEDs at the same time, this is unnaceptable. Second, my R-Pi random crashes (every few minutes) when using Pi4j. I didn't have ...

Pi4j - Unable to open GPIO direction interface for pin

My friend wrote a small Java app for me and it worked on his Pi but I'm getting this error on mine: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError Caused by: java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to open GPIO direction interface for pin [0]: No such file or directory at com.pi4j.wirin...

Re: I2C, SPI, I2S, LIRC, PPS, stopped working? Read this.

To avoid opening new topic, I'll ask here because it's related to LIRC. How does your remotes work and which remote/sensor do you use? I connected a sensor from an old DVD player to Pi and installed LIRC. It's working but not like it should: I have to press multiple times and experiment with remote ...

Re: How to play mp3 radio stream from Java !?

I finally got it to work with jLayer, the problem was that shoutcast streams don't return HTTP 200 OK but ICY 200 OK so URL and URLConnection didn't work. I fixed it using OkHttp and Okio , as seen here . Here's the full code of working online radio player: package test; import java.io.*; import jav...

How to play mp3 radio stream from Java !?

Is it possible that there's practically no easy way to play MP3 files and radio streams on R-Pi from Java application? I spent the whole day trying and google-ing around but didn't find any solution. I'm a total newbie in Java and Linux, but I was hoping that there's an easy solution, it's about pla...

50c are you sure? I think it's more like 70, especially the LAN chip. I got some coolers for the chips but don't know if they will help. Is it good for Pi to be turned on all the time?

Standby or something similar?

I'm planing to build a media center with Raspbmc for a long time but I'm firstly fixing all issues before starting (and I'm waiting that Raspbmc/XBMC team fix damn last.fm scrobbling, it's annoying not to be able to scrobble). The thing that also annoys me is that Raspi has to be turned on/off with ...

Re: How to get high quality audio from R-Pi?

I finally tried HDMI output and yes, it works well :) Even more, there is a newer version of Raspbmc since last time I used it which works even better, without stuttering and pause between songs. Even HDMI CEC works out-of-the-box and wi-fi should work OOTB too. I only noticed when the song starts p...

Oh I was inactive for a while and you have entered into deatils and wrote a lot :D First of all, what is a high quality (at least for me)? I think that PC/laptop's out is something normal. The sound must be crystal clear, and smooth, without A SINGLE stutter/click/pop during playback. This is a good...

Re: How to get high quality audio from R-Pi?

I also haven't tried audio through HDMI but my TV will be connected to HDMI so it will be busy. So I have to buy HDMI to stereo output + HDMI hub which is not cheap. I can export audio through TV but TV's are not meant to play audio so they probably don't have quality audio interface and the result ...

Re: Raspbian with XBMC image download

Hi!

I installed this image and it works. I tried to run XBMC from desktop icon and it also works, even better than Raspbmc. Then I edited the /etc/profile to boot directly into XBMC and I get an unexpected end of file error for /etc/profile while booting.

What is the problem?

Re: How to get high quality audio from R-Pi?

Is there any other way to get direct sound out, without any Pi's sound chip and then create a preamplifier or something? It really a shame that they don't put at least one high quality output. I didn't expected that Pi would be so miserable. I saw lots of people doing HTPC with it so I was expecting...

Re: How to use the rest of space on SD?

I was reading about that today but I also read that Raspbmc uses all space on card by default(?). But, will this space be EXT2/4 or FAT32? If it would be EXT2/4, how can I transfer files to it later? I tried today to connect through FTP but I failed (it was taking too long to respond).

Re: Accessing Command Line from XBMC

I can't exit to command line. I'm using Raspbmc but when I click on exit, it just freezes. The music continues to play but I can't do nothing and I'm stuck with exit screen. The same when I tried reboot or power off, so I'm shuting down my Pi by disconnecting power supply. Any solution to this!?

How to use the rest of space on SD?

I know that this has been discused many time, but I'm new in Linux and all that so I didn't understand mostly of what I've read. I have a 16GB Class 10 SD Card and it's going on my nerves that there's no left space on it. So I used GParted to create two Fat32 partitions, one 4GB partition where I've...
