Re: Order and Shipping update from RS & Allied

Parcelforce delivered at 11:02 this morning 28/9/2012 - about 16 hours after the message below. Looks like it is a Rev 1 board as no mounting holes but not tested yet. Richard. Just received this from RS:- >>>>>>>>>> You have a shipment being sent from RS COMPONENTS LTD that is due to be despatched ...

Re: USB soundcard "Line-in" hardware suggestions.

Th UCA202 is working perfectly under Raspbian with latest firmware (via rpi-update) on two RPi boards early Rev1 and new Rev2. Been running for some time now. Even works on a cheap USB hub but tends to slow up the mouse. Tapco Link-USB also works and this is a very demanding audio device. I did find...

I wonder what the chances are for my order 82521 (if and when arrives) comes as a Rev. 2 board?

Re: Can I set up /dev/dsp for USB sound card?

I found I can get /dev/dsp if I run (as root) 'modprobe snd_pcm_oss' and my applicatiions that require this device now work. However this is a temporary fix and lost on reboot. Where can I place this command to load the module automatically. I guess in one of the many rc scripts, but which?
Thanks

Re: Lost overclocking after updates

Thanks Dom, that explains it all. I run a lot of analysis using FFT which hits the cpu hard. When I first tried overclocking to 900MHz I could not measure any temperature change but fitted heatsinks to both the chips 'just in case'. The supply current only increased by one or two milliamps so I neve...

Lost overclocking after updates

Hi I have for some time had my /boot/config.txt altered to increase clocks and this has worked very well: arm_freq=900 gpu_freq=250 sdram_freq=500 This morning I ran rpi-update followed by apt-get update and apt-get upgrade. Now the system seems to be back at 700MHz. There seem to be a a number of l...

Re: General RS Posts

I have used RS since it was Radiospares the mid 1960s. Then it was a respected supplier, particularly for low volume orders and quick delivery. Later when it was known as RS their vast folders of datasheets and multiple catlalogue sections was a large section of the library that took pride of place ...

My order number is 82521 but since receiving the order confirmation and them accepting my money there has been absolutely no communication (or Raspberry Pi) from RS.

Re: You wanted MPEG-2? You've got it!

Fantastic news ! Nice to see the foundation listening to the users, and not being political about it ("mpeg2 is old and not relevant for educational purposes the pi is aimed at"). It's great that encoding is also there (mpeg2 and h264 encode) It would be fantastic if mpeg2 encode was there as you s...

Re: General RS Posts

On reflection this also smells a little of RS having either oversold their quota of Raspberry Pi boards or they are are concentrating on supplying higher volume orders to schools etc. Farnell seem to have got it right and also replied promptly, clearly and concisely to an e-mail query regarding my o...

Can I set up /dev/dsp for USB sound card?

I ahve installed a program that handles audio analysis as a spectrum or or spectogram display. The program is glfer and is in the repository. I have also found RS to be much less efficient than Farnell. I received my Farnell order a month ago, less than one month after the order was placed. Re: A kernel image with ax25 packet radio modules

So who will be the first to run an FBB BBS on a raspberry Pi? If you plan on using an RS-232 connection to a TNC don't try using a USB to RS-232 adapter. The USB can be unreliable. It is better to use he serial port on the GPIO (/dev/ttyAMA0). There are plenty of 3.3V logic to RS-232 adapters around...

Re: USB soundcard "Line-in" hardware suggestions.

Soundblaster Audigy 2NX (ecternally powered) won't work, lots of errors at boot-up. Tapco Link-USB powered via an adapter that feeds external 5V to it's USB connector is recognised but any attempt to use it crashes out. One cheap dongle works but quality is poor and is mic level and mono only. I red...
