Re: Pi Zero new feature

Officially, the new Zeros are in production. So, what is the suppa-duppa-new-feature?

Re: SD-card became write protected

I got a similar, albeit curious, situation.

I change/modify/edit some files, i can see the modifications, re-edit them.....but when I reboot, the edits are gone, and the modified files revert to the original version.

Fun, no? :-)

Re: RPi 3 SoC at nearly 100 °C, reporting 80 °C

The matter is a bit different. It is not about "it warms up". It's rather "it warms up so easily that it throttles for any conventional task". From my side, I'm more worried that some RPi3 do get much hotter than others. I would like to see the Foundation publishing what is "normal"/"expected" for t...

Inside an official box, without the cover. Adding the cover adds 3-4C to the measurements.

Re: RPi 3 SoC at nearly 100 °C, reporting 80 °C

Adding to my previous posts... I added a vanilla heat sink today. When running the same stress test, which is nothing even to the ones debated above, I get to the same thermal ceiling...but much slower. And to put numbers to things, instead of reaching 80C+ in 5 seconds, it now takes 30 seconds to g...

Re: RPi 3 SoC at nearly 100 °C, reporting 80 °C

@jamesh, just to clarify... I'm not unhappy with the Pi3 performance by itself. I find it a great piece of hardware, as the Pi1 and the Pi2 were. However, something is not right this time. Please keep in mind that I am well aware of how hardware is produced. Throttling is normal, building discrepanc...

Re: RPi 3 SoC at nearly 100 °C, reporting 80 °C

I must say I'm quite disappointed with the thermal profile of the RPi3. I recently got 2 RPi3, and I've replaced some previous instances where I was using the RPi2. When I started checking the temperature, I noticed that my idle temperature is slightly above 50C. High for what I was used to, but not...

Even if the existing image is Raspbian Wheezy, a simple update would make it RPi3-viable?

Re: raspberrypi zero + wifi and Bluetooth

I also agree that the RPi should have some kind of ready-to-use communication form. Let me add that I consider the "Learning Argument" pathetic. That was the excuse to hand-over to kids a bunch of chips and a soldering iron and say "Hey, put your own minicomputer together, you'll learn a lot" Truth ...

There's a sequence of apt-gets that can convert the Lite Edition into the full-fledged one?

Official wi-fi dongle - sold out

I was about to order 3 sets of the new cases, wifi dongles and power supplies, and.... the wifi dongle just got sold out. Any ideas when it's going to be back at the Swag Store?

What is the chipset used in it, by the way?

Enlightenment desktop

Hi everybody,

Did anyone get to install the enlightenment desktop on Raspbian/RPi2? Is it even possible?

I found some references for ArchLinux, but nothing for Raspbian.

Any feedback on this?

Re: Sense HAT availability

Looking forward to have this HAT. The "one-stop-shop" approach gives a lot of footprint towards building a very good software base, and that could be the key towards amazing projects. I've played around with some HATs, and I'm a little disappointed that beyond some Python libraries, the usage is ver...

Re: (New) Official nightly full and cutdown/headless images

Please hurry the Jessie version. Pointless discussions aside, there's a lot of outdated packages in Wheezy (transmission, boinc, fail2ban, etc...) that have much more recent versions in Jessie. And I believe installing select packages from other repos is a recipe for disaster....

Indeed, you were correct. Hi guys, I have raspbian installed, and I was playing around with Kodi, and I found the video playback very weak, so I started digging. Long story short, I ran into the vcgencmd command, and I have the following output: pi@lisbonpi ~ $ vcgencmd codec_enabled h264 h264=disab...

I have exactly the same problem. I never managed to get that particular wifi dongle to work "out-of-the-box". Completely manual installation worked, with manual loading of the module/driver, and wireless settings defined on the configuration files. I still didnt understand what is actually the chips...

Kali: ARMEL to ARMHF?

Hi everybody, Since I'm using Berryboot, I started using Kali image 1..0.6 as the starting point. I managed to update it to the most recent version, but I noticed that all the packages are ARMEL. At the time the image was created, the RPi2 didnt exist, so it's based on the ARMEL version. Is there an...

Re: Jumping from RPi B+ to RPi 2

Confirmed. I had forgotten that I installed Raspbian via NOOBS, and since it was running headless, I never noticed the recovery screen.

Anyway to remove the NOOBS framework once we have a fully installed system? Do I need to keep it ad eternum if I dont want to reinstall everything?

Jumping from RPi B+ to RPi 2

Hi everybody, I'm no newbie in the RPi world, as I own a B, B+ and now a RPi 2. I thought that with a recent version of Raspbian upgrading from a B+ to a Rpi2 was a matter of changing the SD card. But when I try to do that, the RPi2 boot gets stuck at the coloured square, and no more activity. I've ...
