putting a Pi in a Dreamcast Shell doable?

B+/Pi2b idea. I'm talking wiring Power to turn the thing on and off. The USBports going to the controller ports via extensors. Eathernet routed to come outvof the modem, composite routed to go out of the back, and HDMI using the serial port (I guess.) All that would be teidious but doable. Even gett...

is there an updated version of the Adafruit Pi GRRRL case?

https://learn.adafruit.com/pigrrl-raspberry-pi-gameboy/overview I like that case for a lot of reasons, most notably because you don't have to sacrifice a game.boy brick. However I do have a few problems with that build as listed. For this thread though I am going to focus on the case itself. Are th...

How would you improve the SuperPiBoy?

https://superpiboy.wordpress.com I realize the Pi2 provides a beefier set of specs, but if the Ethernet port isn't being used the A+ might be useful (seems to not need USB either, could be wrong.) So the A+ would provide more GPIO, smaller pi (giving more space in ye olden Brick,) uses less power, ...

Apologies, but none of this feels helpful. I'm mostly just wanting to see what already works and go with that instead of having to suss out drives on my own.

Re: what is possible without soldering?

Point made.

Second question. Would I be able to solder to a header or the GPIO with this? Even if I can't it's still useful. I just want to keep expectations in line with reality so I can plan accordingly.

How useful is that gun beyond the included projects? If it isn't going to be trying to do delicate surgery with stone axes then definitely worth it.

Re: How do I power Pi2 and DVD Drive?

That is helpful, but what types of drives can I get that I can run just off USB? I am on a tight budget and I don't want to have to go 'woopsie Daisey. Got the wrong one.'

How do I power Pi2 and DVD Drive?

I want to have pi2, DVD drive, and allin a nice pretty wooden case to hide the connections and such. Still. How do I power the two things with only one thing that plugs into a wall? Oe it could be something other than a DVD drive, such as a hard drive. I just want the end result something where I ca...

Re: what is possible without soldering?

My problem with breadboard is how giant and clunky it looks, or just the amount of wasted space.

Does the stuff come in a smaller size?

what is possible without soldering?

I ask because I don't have a gun or any other equipment. Yes learning would be a good thing, but I'd say 'making a DiY gameboy or putting an LCD info screen with buttons on a media center as a first project would be like asking a five year old to fight Mike Tyson. I have a few things in mind, but I ...

Re: How do I make laser tag equipment?

On the one hand building a simple 'IR Signal hits vest that buzzes' setup looks fairly easy. On the other I want to do something more elaborate. Sure I could start with a pair of $20 chepos from target (or wherever) and try adding on, but if I'm going to have to something like an arduino or some oth...

Re: How do I make laser tag equipment?

First I wanted to see if anyone else would care before bothering. Second. I want to do more than just 'bing. Your vest made an annoying noise when I hit it with an IR thinggie.' Figured that might take a bit of doing. Third: this is a huge maker community. I put this in off topic because I'm still k...

How do I make laser tag equipment?

See I've been fascinated by lasertag since it was biggish in the 90s, but I've never really lived anywhere they are a thing, and the whole visually gimped thing never helped. Fast forward to now and I've got a nephew, niece, and neither like getting up and doing because they face the same middle of ...

Re: Hardkernel ODROID-C1 is a $35 Development Board

Shades of Compaq et al cloning the PC/XT and PC/AT slots & mounting holes... (sheesh I dated myself...) This wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. I hope the Odroid guys have success, but frankly I'm sticking with the Pi. More people here so the things I don't know how to do are more likely to ...

Power button that does a clean shutdown?

What I want is to push power button and it does a clean power down of pi's system with an LED going out to signal it's safe to unplug. I also want that button, when pressed, to be able to boot the pi when pressed. How do I do this? Bonus points if I do not have to solder things to the pi itself so i...

how to make Pi act different if it can't connect?

I do not know if the pi, a/b+, or Pi2 can do this. So this is more 'if it can but needs a specific model I would like to know' thing. Scenario: Pi connects to the internet and it acts as media center using kodi with a bundled DVD player and an over the air antenna. Bonus points if the media library/...

Y'know. I hadn't even thought of those things. I'd been thinking 'offload everything onto the gpio to free up USB cluster for stuff', but having those little mechanical touches are nice. I mean only other this I can think of is wire up an IR receiver so I can use the TV's remote with pi for all of i...

I know I can plug in tacswitch buttons, and I want to say a second screen to display 'now playing' information is doable.
