This is all very confusing, my lirc (on pin 31) stopped working after an apt-get update and upgrade. I followed the text and tried dtoverlay=lirc-rpi,gpio_in_pin=31,gpio_in_pull=high it didn't worked because I'm not shure if the pull up has to be high or low I tried dtoverlay=lirc-rpi,gpio_in_pin=31...
