Re: New raspi 2 B dying after some hours...

If the raspi runs only with the "official one", why is it not sold as package-only? ;-) Believe me, I have about a dozen raspis running stably for years, power supply is not the issue here. Have switched back the 2B back to the original setup (only thing changed: some minor updates via apt update/up...

Re: New raspi 2 B dying after some hours...

But the 2B in the intial setup, right? But it didn't show any signs of undervoltage. OK. The system ran stable for about 24h with the "undervoltage" on a raspi 3B. This proves to me that the SD-card, the power supply, the cam module and the cable are not a problem. On the other hand the previously u...

Why did you post? :-D

To make it easier: I replaced the 3B by a 1B. The undervoltage is now gone. But where to find the reason for the problems in the OP?

Yeah, for the undervoltage. But that's not the problem here, if you have a look at the OP and follow-ups---

Re: New raspi 2 B dying after some hours...

Strange. The new raspi 2B with an SD-card it previously failed with and a power supply it failed with is running for about 20 h now without problems. Only difference: Other raspi cam v1.1 module and fresh 2m cam cable. Even stranger: The raspi 3B with the complete "old" (failing) setup (SD-card, pow...

Re: New raspi 2 B dying after some hours...

Hi! Many thanks for reply! I never ran memtest on a raspi! I will try this: https://retroresolution.com/2015/11/28/overclocking-and-stability-testing-the-raspberry-pi-2-part-3-ram-check-with-memtester/ In the meantime I replaced the raspi 2 against an older 3B, which is running stable for some hours...

New raspi 2 B dying after some hours...

Hello again! I bought a Raspi 2B some days ago and use it with a raspi cam v1.1 and motion 4.2.2 on recent buster. After some hours on the machines dies with something like this in the console: Message from syslogd@ra-op1-bust-0819 at Oct 4 13:08:54 ... kernel:[ 3510.310631] Internal error: Oops: 5 ...

Re: Cam won't adapt to night sensitivity - Cron job how-to?

Yeah, you write the process I want at sun-up or sun-down Which process? :-) The man with the animal name writes to set the values on the camera Which values? :-) I simply restart the motion process and subsequently the cam is adapted to the current (at time of restart) light conditions. Should I pas...

Re: Cam won't adapt to night sensitivity - Cron job how-to?

Hi Dougie!

Would you mind elaborating a little bit on this her:
In my crontab when sunwait ends then /usr/local/bin/sunny.sh runs. That sets in motion the process I want at sun-up or sun-down.

Re: Cam won't adapt to night sensitivity - Cron job how-to?

What I don't really understand is what sunwait does. Does it change the /tmp/lod file from "light" to "dark" at the time it calculates sunset/sunrise to be happining at your place?

PS: Ok, I guess I'm right...

Re: Cam won't adapt to night sensitivity - Cron job how-to?

Ok, I try to wrap my brain around that, you call at 1 am and 1 pm and 13, 23, 33, 43 min (after sunwait has written to /tmp/lod either "light" or "dark" (called via cron at 00:01 and 12:01)) the "still" script, with different ISO numbers. If dark the shutterspeed (-ss) is set to to the maximum, i.e....

Re: Cam won't adapt to night sensitivity - Cron job how-to?

As a first step I have now two cron jobs, one in the evening (dark) one in the morning (light) each restarting motion. That does what it's supposed to do.

Next step: get into the details of sunwat to restart at the right time all the time... :-)

Re: Cam won't adapt to night sensitivity - Cron job how-to?

Wow, that's advanced. I thought about something like that, but I have no idea regarding the part "then use the contents of /tmp/lod to set the values on the camera". How do you manipulate the cam settings? Modify motion? Direct setting of mmalcam_parameters with a cron script? I came up with a quick...

Re: Cam won't adapt to night sensitivity - Cron job how-to?

So for reboot I get from this online tool

Code: Select all

* 21 * * * /sbin/reboot >/dev/null 2>&1
I don't get the /dev/null part....

But it's the same for service stop

Code: Select all

* 10 * * * /usr/sbin/service motion stop >/dev/null 2>&1

Cam won't adapt to night sensitivity - Cron job how-to?

Hello again! Have a raspi 1b with latest Buster (4.19.66+ #1253) and motion ( 4.1.1-1.1+b2 from Github, to make mmal cam adjustments work) installed watching outdoors, the cam is IR with lamps, comparable to this one, but without the red/black cables: https://thepihut.com/products/raspberry-pi-night...

...ooops sorry! I thought that my kernel is the "standard" for Raspbian released. I took now the version without additions in the file name, not the V7, not the V7l version, correct? :-) Yes, corrrreccct! Works like a charm! Many, many thanks! Buster on Pi 2 - Problem with eth0 not ready on boot

Hello! I have a problem on current Buster (light). On boot pilight (8.1.5) is starting, but the network (eth0 with DHCP) is not ready when pilight starts and the program daemonizes (instead of finding the daemon and switching to client mode). When restarting after boot completed pilight starts fine....
