Re: Crontab issues on Raspberry Pi 4 with Buster

I thought I was suffering this problem too - the editor never seemed to completely load the cron file. But it does - it's simply that the ordering of the list of potential editors has changed. Previously, selecting option 2 gave you nano, but now option 1 gives you nano, and option 2 is vim.tiny. If...

Re: Raspbian 2018-04-18 desktop preferences

Thanks, guys. The problem seems to occur if you try to change the Desktop Preferences immediately after running apt update and apt upgrade. This procedure puts a pi-conf-backup.desktop file in /home/p/.config/autostart that, when run, tells you that Raspbian has been updated and some configuration f...

Raspbian 2018-04-18 desktop preferences

Is it just me, or is it now impossible to remove the Wastebasket icon from the desktop in the latest Raspbian, or change the wallpaper? When I select Desktop Preferences, the Wastebasket option isn't ticked, although the icon is on the screen, and I'm told No Image is selected as wallpaper. I can na...

Re: FileZilla SFTP with the new version of Stretch

Ok, this looks like a problem with the Mac client of FileZilla, given that it doesn't seem to affect the Windows client.

Ticket raised with FileZilla.

Re: FileZilla SFTP with the new version of Stretch

Am I alone in suffering this? :-) /var/log/auth.log contains this: Sep 20 12:55:59 P100000 login[537]: pam_unix(login:session): session opened for user pi by LOGIN(uid=0) Sep 20 12:55:59 P100000 systemd-logind[327]: New session c1 of user pi. FileZilla SFTP with the new version of Stretch

Has anyone else encountered authentication failures when attempting to transfer files using FileZilla to the September version of Stretch? It seemed quite happy with the August version, but when I try the September version it happily connects, lists directories and their contents, even allows me to ...

Re: Swift Programing language on Raspberry Pi

Well, it's now a few months later, and indeed there is now a version of Swift for Ubuntu. Unfortunately, it's currently x86 only, though. But it's a start!

There's a new website at https://swift.org/ that is very interesting.

Re: CPU Load

Sorry - should have made that clear. It's a Pi 2. A clock program I wrote some time ago shows the CPU usage and CPU load on screen (with a Pi 1, it was important, although it seems less so with the Pi 2). Running that program on a standard (non-touch) HDMI screen shows usage at 4% and load varying f...

CPU Load

Has anyone else noticed high CPU Load with the official touchscreen? Even with no programs running, I'm finding a CPU load of over 100% most of the time (as reported by uptime, or htop).

Vanishing menu

I've been playing around with Jessie for a few hours now, and I've run into a problem of the menu disappearing. It seems to happen if I add a line to /home/pi/.config/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart to run a program (which happens to be a full screen GTK 3+ application, although I'm not yet sure if that...

Re: Ubuntu / Linaro for Raspberry Pi 2

Just found this - it's looking great. A couple of (possibly stupid) questions - how do I set the locale? I'm in the UK but I appear to have a US keyboard layout. And, when I click Shutdown, I get GDBux.Error.org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.AccessDenied: Operation not permitted - so how should I shut it d...
