Re: wind speed protocol for reed anemometer

Well I was thinking of the raw anemometer interface using a PIC and a comms interface i2c or serial to a PI

Re: wind speed protocol for reed anemometer

Thanks
I wonder if the PIC should calculate this or just provide raw data.

wind speed protocol for reed anemometer

Hello I was planning to use a simple wind speed anemometer. I would use a pic chip possibly PIC12F1840 Because 1) I have some 2) It has plenty of memory 3) It has a serial port 4) It has i2c So, I have some simple code to de-bounce and count the reed pulses. My question is what sort of protocol ? I ...

OK I got my V2.1 camera and adapter cable for the PI zero from Pimoroni, VERY quick delivery!
There was a white disk with a hole in the centre in the box.
What's that for ??

Spring watch DIY camera

You probably know of this project using a Raspberry PI. At https://mynaturewatch.net/terms-and-conditions I want to build one but I think it involves a PI with in built wifi. I have a PI with camera port but no wifi I use a usb dongle. Their image does not seem to work. Does anyone know of any forum...

Rasberry PI as a MIDI interface over WiFi or Bluetooth.

I wonder if this is possible .. I have a number of midi keyboards Some older ones connect over serial MIDI cables and a later one over USB Midi software on my PC such as Anvil Studio and LMMS connect to the Keyboards and play MIDI etc. They usually allow you to select the keyboard and must use some ...

Re: mystery login

On the original install I change the root password. It is was a word but you would be unlikely to guess it. Probably didn't change pi password. Most stuff was apt-get but tvheadend build from source. Plus ftp (not sftp) , I think it was vfstp or something. Security cam ftps images to pi. It needed r...

Re: mystery login

Also around the time of one of the logins I note my router log had

Probably connected ?

Re: mystery login

Re: The good news is that software (the aa and 13377 files) are for PC only and won't run on the ARM chip in the Pi.

Given they ssh onto the system and were issuing Linux commands I wonder why they would put none Linux executables on.
And then attempt to run them with
./aa
./.17733

Thanks

Re: mystery login

Also for info
The port forward was to the standard ssh port on the pi but on the other side of the router it was a totally different port.
So I suspect they may use some form of port scanner ?

Re: mystery login

I usually use root and don't use any other user. So I guess I would not change those passwords. I changed root to a password that I don't think you could guess. Yes they logged in as root. I have closed my port forward. And will create a new SD card. And change all passwords. Plus disable root login...

I have a pi2 with Jessie. Also on my router a port forward on a none obvious port. Logged on this morning and it said last login was two days ago at a time I knew I would not login. Re: Is there some form of auto kernel update on Jessie

It happened yesterday dmesg was

cp210x ttyUSB0: usb_serial_generic_read_bulk_callback - urb stopped: -32

I think it's a know bug so don't bother with it.
Seems to work if I restart my app.
So will produce a script to restart it if stopped.
Thanks

Is there some form of auto kernel update on Jessie

I have a serial to USB dongle. I have a shell script that reads the USB tty port continually. It gets packets every few minutes. This works OK for days/weeks but occasionally I see it has stopped. In dmesg I see dvb_usb_v2: 'Realtek RTL2832U reference design' successfully deinitialized and disconnec...
