Re: [solved] Controlling a fan on a relay with python

Nice, that looks a bit more like what I can start with, cheers Glad i could help :) btw, you should really check the Arduino pro micro as well and/or WeMos D1 mini ESP8266. Just using the esp8266, a DHT22 and a usb cable i am sending values to thingspeak and have my own mini weather station (http:/...

Re: [solved] Controlling a fan on a relay with python

Thanks for the reply, but I use Pi I dont want to start buying more controller boards, its just another thing to lean :) I just found this library here for the pi: https://tutorials-raspberrypi.com/raspberry-pi-measure-humidity-temperature-dht11-dht22/ This should work just fine, with my script. Re: [solved] Controlling a fan on a relay with python

I know its doable with arduino, (even the arduino pro micro, you don't have to go big with the bulky arduino uno). Like this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xD8wHXDzLkQ Just ignore anything related to the TM1637 display, and you get exactly what you want...something to turn on a device (...

Re: [Solved] Waveshare32b V4 LCD black screen on startx

Its an 8GB sd running oscm and raspbian. But since yesterday removed some unnecessary programs to make some space. OK, so you're suffering from the perils of NOOBS. You've lost nearly 1GB just to have that installed then you're restricting the two OSes. It's always better to have one OS per SDcard ...

/dev/root 3.9G 3.4G 278M 93% / How big is your SDCard? Is it really a 4GB card? Or is it an 8GB card that hasn't had the filesystem expanded? Its an 8GB sd running oscm and raspbian. Re: [Solved] Waveshare32b V4 LCD black screen on startx

sudo FRAMEBUFFER=/dev/fb1 startx -- -dpi 60 is the key to change resolution :) That will cause problems at some point. Running startx as root is not a good idea and should not be necessary. Maybe you're running out of disk space... Adafruit had a trick where you add this at your .profile file, but ...

Custom startx Framebuffer on boot

I am using the latest Noobs/Raspbian with a waveshare 3"2 V4 display. I've tried to load a custom framebuffer on the .profile file using: FRAMEBUFFER=/dev/fb1 startx -- -dpi 60 but its not working. The GUI loads up with the default size. Where is the proper file to add this line ? If i type the abov...

Re: Waveshare32b V4 LCD black screen on startx

You need to configure X to use the correct framebuffer. oh crap, i thought this was not necessary anymore (using the new method since i dont have to patch the kernel anymore). If i am not mistaken i remember leaving 99-fbturbo.conf as it is just change fb0 to fb1 ? Or i should just move it out of t...

Re: Controlling a fan on a relay with python

yup changing Pins fixed the errors. I am now using pin12 (GPIO018) and no more errors appear. Here is the final script if anyone wants it. Crontab check temperature every 1h5m. If temp > 50 then turn the fan on for 10 min. 5 * * * * sudo python /home/pi/fan.py fan.py #!/usr/bin/python3 import time i...

Re: Controlling a fan on a relay with python

In GPIOsetup() the first command should be GPIO.setwarnings(False) You remove the warning after you set the GPIO and this is why you have them. hi, thanks for answering. I did what you said but half the warning is still there. Now i only get: root@raspberrypi:/home/pi# python fan.py fan.py:15: Runt...

[HowTo]Control your multiboot remotely with SSH(no mon/keyb) [obsolete]

I wanted to use my old pi1 as a mini server for various things that require a GUI using raspbian and also be able to take it next door and watch something while i was running on my treadmill using raspbmc. Without a keyboard and mouse though to select which OS i want to boot into, i had to think of ...

Re: Accessing raspberry webserver via hamachi

not sure about hamachi but you can port forward port 80 to your pi's lan ip and then you will be able to access the webserver from outside your network.
Probably hamachi needs a port forward as well.
