Re: [GUIDE] Raspbian Lite with RPD/LXDE/XFCE/MATE/i3/Openbox/X11 GUI

Thank you very much for this useful post. One question: I have setup the OpenBox guide. I want omxplayer to run immediately after running startx. Here is the content of ~/.xinitrc : omxplayer /home/pi/myvideo.mp4 But after typing startx in command line, omxplayer doesn't run. I have also tried the f...

Re: Problem connecting with D-Link DWM-157 3G USB Modem

I have used several USB 3/4G Modems over the years with varying success, therefore now use a MiFi from Thee Mobile UK: http://www.three.co.uk/Discover/Devices/Huawei/E5573_4G_Mobile_Wi-fi?memory=0&colour=White Thanks @fruitoftheloom for your reply. I know that one alternative is to change this mode...

Re: Problem connecting with D-Link DWM-157 3G USB Modem

As the modem does not have an ethernet port the only method I can think of is; Setup a laptop to broadcast the internet from the modem to a Wifi Connect and then connect through the raspberry pi. Or buy a router that has a usb port on the back that will allow you to plug in this modem. With the rou...

Re: Remote Access to many RPis. How !?

For a sane VPN you want one server and many clients. The server needs to be accesible from the public Internet. The server could be a Pi, it could be a VPS of some sort, whatever works for your level of traffic. I have had good luck with openvpn for connecting a variety of Linux systems but I could...

I think VPN is more secure than SSH. (right !?)

2. Are there any other methods for remote access to RPis securely from the office!? (else than those 3 ones listed above)? Weaved. Dataplicity. Resin.IO Thanks @B.Goode for your answer. But I'm afraid all your suggestions are in the 3rd party website category, and is not a different method . ;)

I know the paid versions don't have limits, but as I mentioned, using 3rd party websites limit us in designing our system/interface of remote monitoring. That's why I'm more interested in VPN.
