Multiple Operating Systems

Can you load more than one operating system on a Pi2? For example, Raspian and Windows IoT. If you can, how do you select the one you want to run? Thanks,

Pi + Arduino

Hi,

Windows IoT is available for both the Raspberry Pi and Arduino. There is some hardware available to add to the Pi that will create an iterface with Arduino and its shields. As far as I know, Raspian is required. Is there a way to to use Windows IoT instead?

Thanks

Remote View with iPad

Hi,

I currently view the Pi desktop through my Macbook using ScreenSharing. It works well. Does anyone know if I can do something similar using my iPad instead? Is different software involved?

Thanks

Pi Port Range

Hi,

I would like to be able to access my Pi camera streaming from anywhere. My router settings page is asking for the Pi Port Range. Does anyone know what that range is?

Thanks

Re: Video File Won't Play

I have never used a mac and can't really help you with it. But I guess strg+c on a linux pc would correspond to the "apple"-key and c. And for putty you could try the right mouse button to paste a text from the clip-board into the terminal. And to copy from putty to somewhere you can mark text with...

Re: Video File Won't Play

Ok, you can then try to use this command in one line: raspivid -o - -t 0 -w 640 -h 480 -fps 15 | cvlc -vvv stream:///dev/stdin --sout '#standard{access=http,mux=ts,dst=:8160}' :demux=h264 And some explaination... "-o -" send the encoded data to the standard output "-t 0" run forever "-w 640" use an...

Re: Video File Won't Play

It worked, Yeah. Not the greatest quality picture. Hopefully, it can be improved. There must be an error in my code that caused the streaming video not to work. Tomorrow's another day. Thanks.

Re: Video File Won't Play

A test.h264 file was created but it had 0 bits in it. Never saw Buffering lines. I copied the file over but it didn't run. I think it was empty.

It's getting late here. I'll pick this up tomorrow. Thanks for your help. I agree that we are getting close.

Re: Faulty Shutdown

You're probably right. Is there a simple solution or should I just ignore it. I don't have to shutdown using the Pi menu. I can just close Screen Sharing. Thanks. If you can leave the pi powered up then do that and just close screen sharing. (The pi runs at a bit less than 5w, it will take 200 hour...

Re: Video File Won't Play

Something is running with a lot of error messages. The main one is 'too strange dts'.

Went to mac and opened VLC. Entered url, IP + port 8160. Something was there and running but it was very blurry and stopped and started.

Re: Video File Won't Play

Step 2: I typed in the above script and got this error:

bash: cvlc: command not found

I had previuosly loaded the vlc package. Is there an easy way to copy the above script into Terminal?

Re: Video File Won't Play

Thanks. I will try the VLC method again and report where it fails. Step1: I'm on the Pi Desktop through the Macbook. The VLC icon is showing on the Panel at the top of the page. CPU usage is reading a constant 100%. When I right click on the VLC icon and click quit, nothing happens. I restarted the...

Re: Faulty Shutdown

So this is your Mac software (which?) that tries to reconnect after you power down your Pi? No it's happening on the Pi desktop. How are you viewing the Pi desktop? HDMI cable connected from Pi to a monitor? (I suspect that the answer is no, you are using some kind of virtual connection from the Ma...

Re: Video File Won't Play

Too many conflicting threads here! Video file won't play - omxplayer and a local monitor, or copy the file to another machine and use something like VLC to play it back. VLC streaming camera to another machine - Go read your articles again. VLC could be used as a viewer at the remote end (ie Mac), ...

Re: Video File Won't Play

When I started this effort I checked the internet. There are a few videos that show my setup. I believe they used VLC to stream from a Pi camera. They were successful but I wasn't. Perhaps my VLC settings were wrong. It has also been suggested I try MP4Box. See above for those results. Thanks.

Re: Video File Won't Play

Hang on, you're SSHing into the box from a MacBook. Do you have a monitor connected to the HDMI output of the Pi? That is the only place that omxplayer will render to. I'd misinterpreted your setup that you were pulling the H264 file back to the Macbook to play it back. Certainly VLC on the Pi will...

Faulty Shutdown

Hi, When I try to shutdown B+, using GUI, I get 3 choices - shutdown, reboot, logout. No matter which I choose the system tries to reconnect. On the main screen I get spinning lines and the word 'Reconnecting'. It becomes stuck in this mode. I can shutdown using Finder on my Macbook. Is this a bug? ...
